When people say there’s no good locations to build a new stadium, if you’re only looking at wasteland or brownfield sites yes there aren’t many, not that haven’t already got housing PP on them. But if the build is seen by SCC as a wider regeneration project with ‘public interest’ it could be built anywhere, and outside of receiving fair compo there isn’t a single thing any commercial or private property owner could do about it. Awful but reality. Would be more expensive, would take longer, but anything is possible if the authorities are onboard.

That is true although the north was an entirely new structure, as was the outer perimeter and roof of the kop, so they were basically new. Don’t think there’s any need to debate any further, ultimately all costs depend on complexity, but when you look at the figures of other clubs that have moved or redeveloped, new stadia is costing much more, however in our situation could well be the best option commercially.

The 2018 redevelopment plans didn’t require stand closures, new structure was built behind the original leaving stands in full use, as they did at Anfield and the Etihad. You only have to look at recent real world examples of the difference in price between redevelopment of existing and building new stadia. £22m was the cost of redeveloping Hillsborough in 2010. Say we times that by 10 today, we’re still coming in much cheaper than a new build. Is it possible to build a new stadium for £200m? Possibly if we lease a plot from SCC in a business park next to a DPD depot and build a generic 30k out of the city, doubt that’s what new owners would be looking to do though.

Liverpools anfield redevelopment cost one third of Everton’s new ground, a quarter of the price of Spurs stadium, and 10% of the proposed cost of Man Utd’s new build. They’re real world examples, in Sheffield we’d have to buy land, likely have multiple CPO’s, land preparation, planning, road infrastructure, public transport infrastructure and the build itself, just a new stadium would likely cost a billion quid all in, then if they’re wanting to turn it into a multi use complex much much more. New owners may see it as far more commercially viable. But the costs of both are worlds apart.

100%, we have a diverse population in our city, many of whom are football fans, but not necessarily Wednesday fans, we have one of the most populated Uni’s in the country too. Give them premier league football and they’ll come.

To add to this, in Kris Wigfields latest interview he said buyers were pointing out to the administrators that we used to hold our own numbers wise with big prem clubs, the buyers are saying the only difference between us and the likes of Villa etc is lack of capital investment. I’m sure they’ve done their homework on the city too.

I mentioned in a previous post, Forest are redeveloping to 45k due to demand, they have a waiting list on season tickets, they get lower numbers than us historically and the unemployment rate in Notts is almost double that of Sheffield. You can’t argue that because it’s fact. Don’t underestimate the pull of the premier league and don’t underestimate how big a club we are.

It’s average attendances since records began. In the past 10 years we’ve averaged 5k more than our historic average even though we’ve been dire. Sheffield Wednesday in the premier league would need bare minimum 45k. Forest have never been as well supported as us, couple of seasons in the prem and they’re redeveloping to 45k to keep up with demand.

Every club above us in that list has added 20/25k onto their historical averages where ground attendance has allowed, why would we be any different? See the common denominator on the division they’re currently in.
