I wonder what all our younger players are feeling about the current situation? It’s only a few years ago where the possibility of playing youngsters like Weaver and Brown in a league game would have been incredibly remote. I expect our U21s see this as a golden opportunity to shine. I’d like to think most of them are Wednesday fans, so why wouldn’t they be chomping at the bit. If there’s anything good to come out of the current madness it’s surely a reminder to have more faith in our homegrown talent.

Amazing how hard the team are grafting. All in all a good point, but gutted they equalised.

I suppose another factor which we aren’t privy to is how much he’s been paid over the years. I’d guess he’s never been amongst the highest earners and coupled with his versatility and fitness record has made him a valuable asset. I also think his football brain has improved a lot in the last few years, witnessed by his goals and assists. He’s definitely the epitome of someone who’s squeezed the absolute maximum out of his ability.

In fairness to Palmer, his attitude is everything you could hope for in a professional sportsman. I also think he’s steadily improved, such that today he’s as good a footballer as he’s ever been. At times I’ve shared your reservations, but I have to admit I admire his determination to improve.

Looking at that list, the thing that stands out is how quickly Bazza has got to 455 appearances. All the others have typically taken 14 to 20 years, but he’s got there in 10. Centre midfield isn’t exactly a position where you’re shielded from all the action either; his ability to remain fit and available is amazing. Big respect to both of them; in the current football world loyalty doesn’t seem to be repaid on a financial level, but I expect for these two it has on an emotional and human level.

I can’t speak for others, but if it happened against us I wouldn’t complain. Very well taken goal by George; I really hope his debut goal isn’t marred by unfounded controversy.

I reckon it’s a very well worded letter. Don’t see how it can do any harm and I expect if the King’s press department received hundreds of similar, letters it might prompt some action.

Irrespective of his own particular feelings and motives,I suspect events will eventually override the whole situation and he’ll be left with room to manoeuvre. Ironically if his actions are all focused on causing further harm and distress to the club, he’ll be the one that makes an even bigger loss on his investment. No doubt Chansiri believes our fan base have been disrespectful to him and his family, but in comparison to other clubs he’s probably got off lightly with our fans.

I said at the time of Bruce’s leaving and still believe Bruce, was DC’s last chance of recouping his investment in our club. I felt Bruce brought the right sort of stability and gravitas to make a success with our club. I also felt confident were going in the right correction before he left. I expect other posts are correct in saying he’d had enough of DC. If true i hope DC realises he was at fault; not Bruce. I appreciate that Bruce and Big Ron are different characters, but similar to Big Ron i felt confident that he would improve us as a team and that as a club we’d be going in the right direction. What might have been.

Baz is a club legend to me. Not necessarily because he’s been one of our best centre midfielders, but more because what he’s brought to the club. He never shies away from wanting the ball and he ales the side tick. He’s never hinted at wanting away and he’s always appeared to give 100% on the pitch. I also reckon he’s been a fantastic leader and role model off the pitch. In the modern game with players agents constantly angling to move their players to new clubs for more money, Baz has resolutely stuck by our club through good and bad. Lastly you just know by his manner that he’d be the sort of bloke you’d love to chat with over a couple of beers in a pub. A very humble and inspiring wee man.

I suppose MV will feel far more confident casting his opinions on cricket and he’s got plenty of credibility for doing that. I expect he’ll feel more vulnerable talking about Wednesday, but in fairness I think he’s done a great job with his article.

I think a big part of our constant failure to balance the books is because we are so annoyingly poor in the transfer market. Have we ever sold a player for over £10 million? Tbh I’m struggling to think of a player being sold for over £5 million. For a club of our stature, that’s criminal. The sale of Gassama to Rangers for £2 million sums us up perfectly; you watch they’ll make a fortune on him within the next few years.

Bless you mate. I haven’t read through all the replies, but I think I can guess that they’ll all be supportive. For what it’s worth I prefer to think this current horrendous period is actually the beginning of a new era for our club. Sometimes things have to initially get worse before they get better, but I’m optimistic that things will improve. I’ve supported the club for the best part of 40 years. Over that time we’ve had some great players and bits of success, but I’ve never sensed that we’ve financially successful. I just pray that whoever comes next is a shrewd operator and make our club financially strong in addition to being competitive on the pitch. Hang in there mate and stay strong.

What’s happening now could possibly be the beginning of the end for our club, but my gut tells me it could also be the beginning of a rebirth. The club has been so badly run that it might need to get a lot worse before someone like Mike Ashley steps in to buy the remnants, but if the remnants are free of DC and crippling debts the club will have a far better chance than it has with the current owner. You never know the rebirth might be quite exciting once we turn a corner. Here’s hoping anyway.

I think the other aspect to appreciate is Milan can’t predict how DCs wealth/investments would fare following the sale of the club. From everything I’ve read it appears DCs personal wealth has been under pressure in recent years, but we’re now over 10 years on.

In fairness to Bruce I can understand why he wanted to take the chance to manage Newcastle. It still hurt (in much the same way that Ron Atkinson leaving for Villa did), but if and when DR leaves it will all be about finding a safe pair of hands to steady the ship. Bruce would fit the bill imo. I also expect any manager would have one eye on the possibility of a change of owner and maybe access to an increased player budget. I suppose the flip side might be fearing for their job if we did change owner.

Sounds like he grew a lot in confidence towards the end of his loan at Carlisle. It would be a shame for us not to take another look at him in a Wednesday shirt. Different players develop and mature at different rates; hopefully Fusire is starting to blossom now.

For the future of the club, it feels vital we need a wealthier owner in order to have a chance at promotion. It’s such an expensive business and unless you’re a genius owner (like Tony Bloom at Brighton) you now need to be a billionaire to own a successful Championship club. I imagine the absence of a sporting director and CEO reflects our financial position and in fairness to DC, it’s understandable that he’d want to cut his losses. Our situation is far from unique and I wonder how many Championship clubs (if any) are currently profitable? If we get a change of ownership in the next month or two, I’d like to think the new owner would want to keep DR and his team. I believe DR when he says he knows what the club needs to do to progress and I’d love him to have the backing to have a crack at bringing us success.

I’d definitely have him. Another poster mentioned he’d be similar to MM in steadying the ship and I’d agree with that. Unlike MM I reckon he’d be a little more ambitious as he’d definitely have his sights set on promotion to the PL. I personally don’t have an issue with an owner running the club prudently; I’d much rather that than worry about our club going out of business.

Assuming Bailey has been happy with how he’s been looked after, that might add considerable weight in his brother’s thoughts?

I’d like to think we’d make a decent account of ourselves if we actually made the play offs. We’d obviously be full of confidence by then having won pretty much all our remaining games and even though we haven’t taken points off the top four we certainly should have.

I would have thought the best thing for Ugbo is to take him away from the pressure of first team football and get him some reserve games. Ultimately the lads confidence must be rock bottom and we all know a lot of this game is governed by what’s going on between the ears. Hopefully he’ll start to bag a few goals playing at a lower standard and come back to the first team when needed) with some confidence.
