The reality is that none of us really know whether Röhl is unpopular with the players and whether they would prefer Pedersen. What we do know is that it’s easier to be popular with players as the Assistant Coach and that the Manager / Head Coach is the one who has to make the unpopular decisions. Yes Röhl should have been back earlier, but if he is confirmed as the Manager I doubt it would take long for the players to fall back in line.

I return to my point that it would be much better for Röhl not to be marketing his availability in the media whilst he is under contract. Any club looking for a talented young Manager already knows his situation. Chansiri is the problem at Hillsborough not Danny, sure we can all agree on that.

He’s more likely to damage his relationship with Chansiri further and potentially result in Chansiri weeing about over negations for him to exit. He’s also likely to tarnish his reputation with some supporters which would be a shame considering the excellent job that he’s done.

I’ve no problem with Röhl deciding he’s had enough of working for Chansiri but he’d be better advised marketing his services more discretely whilst under contract.

It would be a massive step forward for him.
