AI names Owls/Blades best all time XI
Manor Owl replied to Sefton owl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
The Springett Hodgkinson debate was big in the 1960s. Springett was taller and that gave him the edge. Didn't Hodgy become our goalkeeper coach , or am I mistaken -
Very sad Normally the sign on the screen says something like "Please stay in your seats , the players will shortly be doing a lap of appreciation". Nothing....we nearly gave up and went home Also the "security" made it difficult to pick out players in the crowd Normally come out in groups of half a dozen or so. Very depressing, like the back half of the season.

Official Protest Match day Thread
Manor Owl replied to TheGaffer's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I have given this some thought, and find myself very depressed about it Do we want an idiot owner like The Venkys, Vincent Tan, Mike Riley or any of the other morons who are controlling teams? I suspect no. Do we want a super Billionaire that lives in another part of the world but sends Salary cheques every month plus a suitcase of money every transfer window? I suspect Yes. There is a pecking order from Millionaires, multi Millionaires, Billionaires to Super Billionaires. The days of the local fan and factory owner, or local philanthropist are long gone. DC should go because of his criminally bad business management. I wonder how his Tuna empire makes money. Sadly I fear that we have to hope that someone who ticks the correct boxes is interested. That is the way forward. Looking back. I wonder how DC would have behaved if we had beaten Hull in the playoffs. Seems a long time ago. Like everyone else, I will pay the money and Support the team. After 70 years I cannot stop now. -
Owls v Middlesbrough Matchday Thread
Manor Owl replied to Holmowl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
After the excitement of a home win, I took to reading all 52 pages of the thread. Last night and this morning. Sad or what? I guess I was in the majority tipping a 0-2 or worse loss. Reliving the game via the realtime posts was good. And it shows how fickle and committed we are. We were certainly more committed than previously. TBH I thought that Windass was offside, you only see it in a flash. Fortunately my son is a Youtube poster and showed me the replay so the ref and linesman were correct. Maybe the win was fortunate but we didn't deserve to lose. As a ST holder I am trapped. Paid the money, so have to go. It is like going to a restaurant, buying a meal then sneaking out without eating it. Do we just want DC to stay in Thailand, send money every month for wages and a dollop at the transfer windows? Is that what other "owners" do? This is unsustainable. I look at the new Prem teams like Brentford, Bournemouth, Brighton etc. How do they manage their finances with smaller grounds, smaller fanbase etc. After next week there will be the endless debate about who should go, and who should stay. The pro and anti Palmer, Bannan, Smith, Pato groups are forming. You read it here first No-one is going to be happy. We are all WTID so there is always next year -
Michael Smith - ON HIS WAY OUT of SWFC?
Manor Owl replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
If there is nobody coming in, Smith will not leave. DR will have seen this when Cadz went on loan. Although Pato has been allowed to look for another club, I can see him staying -
Milton Keynes - V- Wednesday - OMDT
Manor Owl replied to Lord Snooty's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Why does everyone call last weeks 3-3 exciting? It was frustrating and depressing. I fear another defeat and the static back 3 mountain range system will have to be scrapped. Dare I say 4 4 2 which is foreign to Moore 's ideas. Think I will spend the afternoon walking and avoid contact with the outside world OK yes we will in please -
Wednesday - V - Doncaster Rovers

Wednesday - V - Doncaster Rovers
Manor Owl replied to Lord Snooty's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
OMG like a virgin on a first date. Shirts, scarves laid out. What to wear? Not been on Owlstalk like forever. Has my account and password lapsed. Not read OMDT since first lockdown. Just missing it all. Today is the day Cannot wait -
Early April is a strange time for me as it sees my father's and maternal grandfather's birthdays. Both dead of course. They started me off on the path. The Path. Both my grandfathers we fanatical so I must assume that at least one of their fathers started the tradition. We all call SU pigs. In our house they were the Spite team. Only formed to spite us. 1880s One grandfather was a tram driver and the family story (clearly not true!) I assume, was that on passing Bramall Lane he would stop the tram, get off, spit on the gate, get back on the tram and drive off. Clearly I do not condone such actions. So tomorrow 4th and 5th generation will be taking our places in the N stand.

Got there just in time to hear the FA expert telling a couple of people that Piggies won cup in 1935. Had to correct and reprimand him

On holiday at present so missed the game. Read this and thought of the Rugby position "First five-eighth " Any help. Did Bazza do any "play action fakes " NFL just asking
-
He will be telling the new loan players that they are not good enough to get in the team next.
-
Forever And (Nottingham) Forest Heart (of Midlothian) (Woolwich) Arsenal
-
In the first half rather than give the ball for a millwall corner, walked slowly up and put it on the corner quadrant. Wrong place obviously.
-
Clearly we do not choose Wednesday, Wednesday chooses us.....and only the strong survive

Shows how much I know but I thought that we had an option to buy Fred if we wanted. But that the fee had already been set last year at £2.5 million

Sheffield Wednesday V Port Vale 1977-78 season

Tommy Tynan.... -
Good to see that we have a Schindlers list

Are we anywhere near an embargo or is this rubbish. If so we need to sort out the Winnall/Butterfield situation first. If we want Venancio we need £2 million. Do not renew Wallace and Loovens contracts. If we could sell 2 and keep 1 of Rhodes Fletcher Winnall. I am really not sure. It is by no means certain that Hooper will play again or as well as previously. I read that Kieran Lee may never play again. If this is true we should be careful about discarding the number of players that people are suggesting.

Lucas Joao "The atmosphere was amazing"
Manor Owl replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Just the childish bang when their goalie took goal kicks -
Don't laugh but a few weeks ago this game would have been called a 6 pointer. There were a few knocks and this manager is cautious with injuries. Palmer for Hunt to be careful One of Fox's better games so if he is fit play him, otherwise Boyd (is he injured?) The Hutch, Bannan situation may need Jones/Butterfield (an I really suggesting this?) Joao and Adthe should start or rest Adthe and give Rhodes a run (am I really saying this?) FF will be on the bench to replace Rhodes on 60 minutes.

Have we got enough? The embargo thread
Manor Owl replied to Costello 77's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Actually it is who we get OFF the payroll. I can see Loovens, Wallace, Winnall/Butterfield going. Possibly Westwood & Fletcher. That should free up a bit of cash We only have Fred on loan so may need to buy him. Feel a bit sorry for Winnall who signed and the a few days later we signed Rhodes. Never got the chances that Rhodes got.
