I think that was the midweek game before the 91 league cup final.
-
Was that midweek, just after Norwich beat Sunderland in the Milk Cup final?

The game against the pigs is on Remembrance Day
Rosser replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I’ve been thinking about this since the game got moved and it’s absolutely appalling. Have SYP (and Sky) got no respect? I lay a wreath on behalf of my cricket club at the village war memorial every Remembrance Day and it’s a really really moving experience that puts modern stresses / pressures into perspective and it’s not something I’m prepared to miss. Hopefully there will be a turnstile open for late arrivals because I’ve got 12 miles to travel to the match. BOTH clubs should align and say to SYP (and Sky) they refuse to kick off until 12.30 or 13.00. Some things are much bigger than football.- 53 replies

I was 9 years old and Wednesday mascot for the West Ham game. I remember seeing the tv footage of the fire in one of the lounges at Hillsborough after the game and not fully understanding what had happened but knowing it was very serious. There was also a lot of trouble in the Birmingham v Leeds game on the same day, that for obvious reasons got much less coverage. https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-news/worst-football-violence-west-midlands-9684447.amp

I reckon about 900 league games 41 season tickets, gets me to 780-800 home games. Over 100 away grounds as well.

Who Is In The Same Boat As Me ?
Rosser replied to Kopparberg's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
This is going to be a HUGE issue. You stop going to matches, find something else to do on a Saturday which is probably less expensive and more enjoyable……and never get back into the routine / addiction of going to matches. Add in the multiplier effect…..you stop going, which means you then don’t take your kids (which also hits merchandise sales), so we end up losing a generation of fans. Plus, if my mates aren’t going, then I’ll stop going as well. 3,000 ST x £500 (average, guess) = £1.5M in lost revenue in a year……….but then if you start projecting that per year over 5-10 years, it becomes an extremely significant amount of lost revenue. -
I really think DR’s modern approach to football needs to take a little bit from the Howard Wilkinson book. We trained and trained and trained set pieces at both ends of the field. Now it seems like 15 minutes a week. Saying that, looking at the last couple of performances I’m not sure we are currently training at all.

Me and the lads I go with thought he was good. He’s only 18. On-loan from Tottenham https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashley_Phillips_(footballer,_born_2005)

What is it? Can someone share the words please?

Subs should be ready to go in from the 1st minute. No idea why they don’t have their match shirt on from the start. It’s been like it for 10 years or more now. MADNESS

What was your first away match?
Rosser replied to Furious George's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Swansea away on the intercity owl. 1st game of the 83-84 season. Won 1-0. I went to Lincoln away in a pre-season friendly beforehand, but this was my first competitive game. -
Looking at the match officials, I can the ref is Joe Worrall. Was the linesman really from Worksop?

Scary to think it’s almost 40 years ago!!!! I miss the simplicity of football from this era.None of the backwards and sideways possession based rubbish we have to put up with now. We probably put more crosses into the box in this game than we’ll manage in 46 this season. And you were allowed to tackle…….and if you were tackled you got straight back up. Not as exciting as the early 90’s, but every week teams will have known they’d been in a game against us. They were the days……..

With the new ticketing / entry system are you now ok with tickets on your phone or do they still need to be printed?
-
Man City do it, so everyone else thinks they should do it, in every division, but without the players with the necessary quality to execute it.

Trains on the East Coast Main Line (Wakefield, Donny, Retford etc), are a nightmare today. Power issues, random cancellations, delays. Got sent North from Retford to Donny to then go south. Now going south……..but after half an hour only got as far as Bawtry.

Change of plan. Driving now. I paid £60. Will take £50. 8.45 departure.

Are you able to fully walk around inside the stadium or are areas blocked off? Will someone in Block 110, green entrance, be able to meet up with a mate in block 528, red entrance? As a group we’ve got 2 lots of tickets, but as tickets have been released, people want to sit with others (grandad with his son & grandson)……which means either a 40 year old using an over 65’s ticket to get in, or using the correct age bracket ticket and entrance and doing half a lap of the stadium on the concourse. I think the age thing might be easier to address? Especially with ticket readers, I doubt there is any stewards paying that much attention?
