  1. IT'S HERE. THE BIG ONE. Forget the league table, forget the noise, forget everything else. This is all that matters today. This is the Steel City Derby. At 12:00 PM, we host the unmentionables from S2 to Hillsborough for a clash capable of being the season highlight, regardless of what comes after on the pitch. The chance for players to make themselves a hero to be remembered for decades and go down in the history books. The atmosphere around S6 is already electric. With the recent changes through the admin process prompting excitement for whats to come, staff empowered to do their jobs, beee tokens, Supporters Trust logo on the shorts, £10 discounts for members, Christmas parties, 4 match bundles, £2.50 key rings and £10 kids Christmas jumpers on the Christmas market stall. It's been about much more than the 'product on the pitch' recently but it's fair to say we've got our Wednesday back! There has been real fight in the camp, all season. However with the games coming thick and fast before the international break the small group of senior pros we have were tired. We go into the derby after a break, the players having the chance to take a break physically but mentally too, time with families and re charging the body and brain Match Details • Fixture: Sheffield Wednesday vs. Sheffield United • Competition: Sky Bet Championship • Kick-Off: 12:00 PM (GMT) • Venue: Hillsborough Stadium • Remember to allow plenty of time to get there. See the thread about the trams. Basically they won't be running to get fans to the game. Last season a group of the fanbase on both sides thought were proper hard and reyt nawty. SYP therefore recommended the trams aren't running for the game as the aforementioned small group of the fanbase on both parts behaved like tools last year. See more at https://www.facebook.com/share/17QtdNiNJW/ The Line-Up Let's get the ball rolling... what are your starting XI predictions, first derby memories and score predictions, Owls? Who is going to step up and be the Derby Hero today? For us Liam Cooper comes in, he's been with the group for a number of months. Training and now ready to go, his experience will be a great asset in the squad and in a game like this That lot could see Patrick Bamford make his debut. Patrick has a lot in common with us Owls, sharing the same opinion about their gaffer One of my early Derby day memories is Lloyd Owusu coming on scoring and raising the roof with his celebration. Also in this watch out for a bicycle kick effort from Paul McLaren, what a goal that would've been! Let's not rely on the players today to raise the roof and create the atmosphere. For everyone in Hillsborough please raise your voice get behind the lads and let them lot feel uncomfortable. Let's not have a quiet period as a fans, be the 12th man. We've got our Wednesday back and lets make sure everyone on the pitch and watching on TV knows it
  2. The first part you say is correct all SY councils are members of SYMCA South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority - South Yorkshire MCA https://share.google/93eNHyLGC7CynntDb The second last part in my view is nonsense, sounds like you haven't had a good experience working for SCC but there are countless skilled staff across what is a huge organisation performing well is challenging front line and senior roles. This against the challenging of local authorities facing huge cuts with the public failing to understand how reliant they are on their councils for essential services such as adults/children's social care and housing. Each of these areas has amazing staff within doing great jobs in a context of huge volumes of work and lack of resources. To have a sweeping statement like I often see of negative comments towards SCC and others LA's is totally unfair and feeds into a narrative which carries through social media and few understand the real issues / challenges. Anyway yep the trams aren't running at the request of the police because as Oliver Coppard said a few few people last year behaved little absolute bell ends in not so many words.
  3. Not lazy from the council, South Yorkshire Police requested to SYMCA that the trams don't run for this game. The Council or SYMCA don't overule the police. Recommendation from SYP based on evidence from previous years. Essentially they're are fair few idiots who spoil it for an awful lot of others, no need to scapegoat the council. However we have a culture in Sheffield for people blaming the council so why not eh.
  4. Yep exactly how I read it too which ain't going to happen. I'd have gone but with it being a Sunday I wasn't sure until today what time my sons football match kicked off. Asked him a few weeks ago if he wanted to miss his match and go to the derby or play and watch on TV. He went with the latter. However now it's been confirmed he's got a 0930 kick off but I won't be taking him into the lower leppings lane for this game.
  5. Matchday Thread: Southampton vs Sheffield Wednesday ️ The fighting spirit is lit! After securing back-to-back draws, including a spirited point against Norwich last time out, we head to St Mary's to take on a Southampton side who are struggling to find consistency. This is another massive opportunity for us to show the kind of tenacity and determination needed to take through the season and beyond. Southampton, despite their recent Premier League experience in the squad, they have had a turbulent season, compounded by a recent managerial change. They will be looking to build on their recent win, but the pressure is definitely on the Saints at home. Match Details • Fixture: Southampton vs Sheffield Wednesday • Competition: Sky Bet Championship • Date: Saturday, November 8th, 2025 • Kick-Off: 3:00 PM (GMT) • Venue: St Mary's Stadium Player Spotlight: Barry Bannan (Midfielder) Our Captain Fantastic is in the spotlight this week following a standout performance against Norwich, where he scored a stunning long-range goal that was the highlight of the match. • Recent Form: Bannan has been widely rated as our best player in recent weeks, leading the team's statistical charts for chances created and expected assists (xA). (Source: FotMob, Coral) • The Quarterback: Despite the team's struggles, the skipper remains the heartbeat of the midfield, controlling the tempo, delivering accurate long and short passes and showcasing the tenacity needed to inspire the players around him. • Tomorrow's Role: With Southampton expecting to dominate possession, Bannan's ability to retain the ball under pressure and pick out a killer pass on the counter-attack will be absolutely crucial if we are to take anything from St Mary's. Latest Team News Southampton • Out/Doubt: Saints are without several players. Welington is serving the final match of his suspension. Long-term absentees include Ross Stewart and Elias Jelert. Shea Charles is sidelined with a hamstring injury, and Cameron Bragg has been named as a new absentee with a minor hamstring issue. • New Signing: Experienced midfielder Oriol Romeu is unlikely to feature as he continues to build fitness after his recent signing. Sheffield Wednesday • Out/Doubt: we continue to manage a lengthy injury list. Nathaniel Chalobah is still a few weeks away from a return as he awaits a scan result. Others out include Di'shon Bernard, Olaf Kobacki, Pierce Charles, and George Brown. Southampton Fan View The mood around St Mary's is one of cautious optimism tempered by recent home vulnerabilities, especially after a midweek away win at QPR. • Many Saints fans feel this match is a "must-win" to fully break the cycle of defeat and build on the spirit shown in the last outing. They expect the team to be "better organised and with a new found spirit" under the caretaker boss. (Source: FansNetwork - SaintsNews Preview) • There is a firm belief that on paper, this "should be 3 points" against the bottom-placed side, with some expecting the attacking potential to finally show against perceived "soft opposition." (Source: FreeSuperTips Prediction; FansNetwork Preview) • However, there is also a clear warning against complacency. The feeling is that Wednesday are "most dangerous" now as they have nothing to lose, and the Saints must avoid being caught out by a team that will "play without fear and with freedom." (Source: FansNetwork - SaintsNews Preview) The Challenge Southampton secured a much-needed victory away at QPR in the week, and they'll be led by caretaker boss Tonda Eckert again. They'll see this as a perfect opportunity to get their season back on track, but their recent form suggests vulnerability. For us, it's about building on the tenacity and fighting spirit we've shown in the last two games. Can we keep things tight at the back, utilise our midfield general Barry Bannan to pull the strings, and show the defensive resolve needed to grind out a result? We've shown we can score goals on the road, and taking something from this game would be a massive boost to morale and our fight for survival. Team News & Discussion • Who would you like to see in the Starting XI? Any changes from the Norwich game? • What are your score predictions? A moment of magic from Bannan? A clean sheet? • Key battle? Where do you think this game will be won or lost? • Are you travelling down? Safe journey to all the travelling Owls! Let's hear your thoughts and predictions
  6. Personally think he often likes to drop some unnecessary language but and prefers Roger Wylde's approach. James ib think it was from the podcast who was interviewing them asked a few questions some of them were intended to get laughs/soundbites etc. Chris opted to call DC a c*nt, Roger preferring to basically say life's too short for I'll feeling etc and best to move forward etc. Which for me personally is where we need to be moving forward and looking to the future.
  7. 100% spoke much better than Chris Turner last night
  8. I was at the forum last night, this was clarified with Kris and confirmed as correct. So yes if someone has obscene funds and bids higher than another who may have a better strategy the higher bidder would win.
  9. I'm sure it'll all be part of the inside matchday when it comes out
  10. Couldn't see a matchday thread, aside from the thread about ticket sales so I've jumped in. Hope I'm not treading on any toes.... Blue & White Night Matchday Thread! | Sheffield Wednesday vs Norwich City The Battle of the Basement! Tonight, under the lights at Hillsborough, it's more than just three points—it's Blue & White Night! Let's make this Bonfire Night a night to remember and get behind the boys as only Wednesdayites can! The club has slashed ticket prices, brought back the light show, and we've got legends like Waddle, Hirst, and Curran in the Megastore pre-match. The atmosphere is going to be electric! The Match Details Fixture: Sheffield Wednesday vs Norwich City Date: Wednesday, November 5th, 2025 Kick-Off: 7:45 PM GMT Venue: Hillsborough Stadium The Form Book Both teams are desperate for a result in this relegation six-pointer: Wednesday (24th): D-L-L-L-L (Our morale-boosting 0-0 draw away at West Brom last time out shows the fight is there, despite the small squad and the administration points deduction. We need to turn that grit into a win at home!) Norwich City (23rd): L-L-L-L-L (The Canaries are in absolute freefall, losing their last six league games. Pressure is mounting on their manager, Liam Manning. They're vulnerable, and we need to exploit it!) Key Talking Points Blue & White Night: The atmosphere is paramount. Let's get Hillsborough rocking and be the 12th man! Wear your colours with pride. The Rebuilding Starts Now: With the club under administration, every game is a chance to show prospective new owners the potential of the fanbase and a fighting team. Goals: Ugbo hasn't been firing could tonight be his night or will we see Henrik go with an alternative at the top end of the pitch? Head-to-Head: We did the double over Norwich last season, winning 2-0 at home and 3-2 away. A repeat of the home score would be perfect! Predictions & Lineups What are your thoughts? Who starts? What's the score going to be? C'MON WEDNESDAY! KEEP THE FAITH! #SWFC #WAWAW #BlueAndWhiteNight #SHWNOR

  13. I imagine there must be a fair few single seats left now. Some perhaps may not go as won't be able to get a ticket for them and two or three others.
