Sky sports news - Barry Bannan on his way for £1 Million
beef replied to MSN SYSOP's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
He could have chose to leave on a free at the end of the season. Anything we get now is a bit of a bonus. Also, he said there isn't any relegation clause. Doesn't make it true because Sky says so -
What did we learn after signing Grant Holt?
beef replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Was never given a proper chance. Huge step up from Barrow and we didn't give him the opportunity to develop. Should have gone out on loan instead of moved on -
typical stuck in the past fan who thinks Wednesday are still in the Prem. Who is realistically a better choice?
-
Fans who don't think we should sell if we get an offer of 10 mill plus really don't understand how football works. We are in this mess because we have failed to sell players for profit previously. Also, You can go and sign players you don't have to stick with what you have. The money would put us in the best financial situation we've been in for years and would allow us to invest in the side. Plenty of players in the lower leagues likes Ross Sykes at Accrington and Perry NG at Crewe who we could get for relatively small fees but with huge resale value. It's what most Championship sides but our fans seem against this for some bizarre reason.
-
I think the point is that he wants first team football and won't get that at city. This doesn't mean he's a bad player because they are allowing it to happen. He could be a good premiership level player for all we know but that doesn't mean he is good enough for city as their standards are so high. To say they aren't going to get rid of anyone good is a bit short sighted. We don't need the next Phil Foden we need a player who is going to be a good championship player. This is world apart level wise.

They got rid of David Brooks
-
Would honestly snap their hands off for 9 points and a fresh start
-
Would you rather give a young player a chance or someone who isn't going to be here next season? Very easy choice for me
-
He's barely kicked a ball for us. Our fans never give anyone a chance
-
Sums our fans up. Kids hardly played for us and already getting called a very poor player
-
And this is my point. People have wrote him off as the result of that bad game. It's been 18 months since then.
-
Would love him to get an actual run in the side instead of everyone writing him off after a couple of games. Our fans must be up there with the worst for giving players a chance. Didn't fans used to slate Sheridan?

Sheffield Wednesday Squad for next season as things stand:
beef replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I'm fine with this. Try and move on Rhodes and Westwood because of their wages and offer a deal to Fletcher on reduces wages then try and build with a much younger side. There are so many good players in league 1 and league 2 who we could try and sign and would have a resale value as well. Players like Scott Fraser at Burton, who has 5 goals and 11 assists this season, is 25 and out of contract. Surely worth taking a chance on a few like this -
https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/quiz-can-you-remember-which-sheffield-wednesday-manager-signed-each-of-these-15-players/ Decent little quiz if you are bored. Can you name the manager who signed each player. I got 12.

This isn't right though is it? When you say 21st you mean first in the championship so the average is completely different. Also, the 12 years before Ashley were before the mega rich owners came in. Newcastle were one of the big fish then.
-
Hope it's not so people have to actually go to watch the game. Our away following at Leeds in recent years has been awful
-
Don't really get the big hissy fit over the subs. We were 3 nil up in what essentially is a nothing game and Bruce obviously wanted to try a few things and also make sure players are as fresh as possible for the next 2 games. Absolutely fine isn't it
-
And how long did it take Wallace to find a club? Had to drop down leagues as well. Doesn't just work like that

#SWFC Transfer Embargo - Jos Speaks Out
beef replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
We could easily have a starting 11 of Dawson, Palmer, Lees, Pudil, Van Aken, Reach, Bannan,Hutch,Fessi, Joao, Nuhiu and a bench of Fox, Wildsmith, Fletcher, Matais, Boyd, Joey P and Jones with Hooper and Lee back in a few weeks. Hardly a team full of youngsters. I think people forget how big a squad we actually have. The youngsters coming through and getting game time is a bonus. -
I see were you are coming from with it. Not exactly been a great pre-season but we did well at the end of last season and Jos now has Westwood, Hutchinson, Fletcher and Van Aken to add to that team as wll as hopefully having Lee and Hooper back soon. I think this gives us a pretty decent side. I think it will do us good to have no real pressure on as well. No one else thinks we will do anything this season..
-
Surely your memory goes back more than 3 years? We've had a garbage championship team for years apart from about 3. The team we have now might not be top 2 material but can more than hold it's on in this league. Think you are also forgetting we have players like Fessi and Bannan who are miles better than we've had for years. Hardly all doom and gloom.

Jack Hunt from #SWFC to Bristol City
beef replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
You do know we are allowed to sign another right back? -
Did anyone else last night look at the team sheet with more optimism than most weeks? Seeing a side without Fox, Palmer, Wallace, Butters and Nuhiu in it and replaced with a bit more pace and attack minded players was a nice surprise. Not sure why it has taken so long for Boyd and Clare to be given a game but both were good as was Hunt. Although both Palmer and Nuhiu did well when they came on I thought the team that started can actually compete in this league. Hopefully Lees is back for the villa game to add to it and it suddenly doesn't look so bad after all.

Since coming into the side against Forest he has been our best player Imo along side Reach. Even against Burton were we we awful he looked a threat. What impresses me the most is his hold up play. I always thought he was a bit of a weakling but he Is very good at getting his body inbetween the ball and defender. Yes he is unpredictable and gives the ball a way at times but he's always a threat and has something special in his locker. Building for next season I would love to have him Fessi, Hooper and Winnall as our strikers options and move the rest on.
