I agree, the sponsor was always taken the Michael out of by opposition fans at the time, where as now looks pretty cool. In fact if I could ever get my hands on one of these, or a DH Gate copy would be very happy

Sheffield Wednesday vs Birmingham omdt
Birstall Owl replied to Maddogbob's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Tonight & Saturday will be the footballing equivalent of sticking pins in your eyes. Heavy defeat in both games. -
Someone near me yesterday was slagging him off in the first half for not getting rid of the ball straight away (no QPR player within 20 yards of him), saying was he Dawson in disguise.

When I moved in 2018 I put the following shirts in a charity bag, as I wanted to have less stuff to shift. With how much retro shirts cost and now my lad is an adult so would wear them, wasn't my greatest moment 92/93 Yellow/Black Away 93/94 Black/Gold Away 94-95 Yellow/Purple Away (Long Sleeve) 95-96 Green/Aqua Away 97-98 Home 99-00 Home 14/15 Yellow "Azerbaijan" Away And also in the bag was a 93/94 Brazil Home Shirt (Umbro)

Team for Pompey + score

3-0 defeat for me, regarding team selection unfortunately it's just re-arranging deckchairs on the Titanic. -
Fans leaving at half time (0-3)
Birstall Owl replied to TouchIsGolden's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Playing devil's advocate here, I've never understood fans arriving 10 mins into the game as they were finishing their pint, going down for a beer on 35 mins, and then coming back to their seat on 55 mins as they were finishing their beer. These people miss 30 mins every match day, but the issue is somebody leaving on 88 mins? -
Are you going to fall for this ahead of early bird?
Birstall Owl replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Currently as things stand I'm not renewing When we have a new owner in place I will, if that means I have to buy my ticket later at a more expensive price so be it. -
Frightening if you compare the tale of 2 gamblers
Birstall Owl replied to steelowl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I always remember reading that after their playoff semi defeat to us in 2015, in the days that followed Tony Bloom was heading meetings and devising their plan for the 2016-17 season. Imagine having a plan -
BBC article on Take Over Limbo

Yep this was the key line for me that sums him up The Owls owner, therefore, has little true business pedigree as an individual -
Confess your unpopular opinions regarding SWFC

POLL: For SEASON TICKET HOLDERS ONLY...
Birstall Owl replied to Daveyboy66's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Not renewing until he has gone. Also normal clubs have their early birds from April, we've been gaslighted that much that we think March is great for initial release. -
£100 Million is the price tag (still)
Birstall Owl replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
My thought process has been this for a while, that the early bird season ticket window for 26/27 will be the straw that breaks the camels back- 71 replies

If its another experienced body to add the squad, I'd take Tommy Cooper (one for the kids there)

Problem is with football fans out of blind loyalty they always back the club over players, 99.9% of us have no idea what goes on behind the scenes. We think that the players are all mates and love playing for the club, like playing for the Dog & Duck on a Sunday. Reality will be very different.

I can see why he uses Linkedin as everybody you come across is fantastic at what they do. Chancer probably thought "these are my type of people"

Shea Charles to Wednesday?
Birstall Owl replied to theowlsman's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
More chance of signing Shay Given Actually he's 49 so in our current predicament there's a good chance of that. -
The (inevitable?) Americanisation of Football
Birstall Owl replied to talon's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
On the flip side would you prefer a far east owner to US? Chancer, Vincent Tan, Dai Yongge, Carson Yeung, Tony Xai all tyre kickers who took/taking their clubs to the brink. -
Nixon on potential points deduction
Birstall Owl replied to marble's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I find Nixon's language interesting, with £8m being "sky high", Man City sold Gavin Bazunu to Southampton in 2022 for 14m euros, he'd played more games at that time (73) than Charles has but they were all at League 1 level. If a PL team were selling PC would £8m be "sky high"? -

Wrexham - more midfielders than our entire squad!
Birstall Owl replied to Maidstone Owl's topic in General Football Chat
There biggest issue will always be when Ryan Reynolds is no longer the figure head, he is the figurehead that business, celebrity, US fans all want to be connected to. When they sell the new owners would surely look to keep him involved short term, if they are just owned by another American Hedge fund where's the glamour in that. Best signing they've made this summer for me is Lewis O'Brien (and I like Windass) -
After a Takeover what would you want?
Birstall Owl replied to Jeffjohnsonmyhero's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday

I knew it was starting but didn't watch Luton Vs Wimbledon on Friday night (I normally would) and saw the last 10 mins of Stockport Vs Bolton, again I'd normally watch it all. Yesterday didn't watch anything as went to Liversedge FC Vs Wythenshawe FC (0-3) in the Extra Prelim Round of the FA Cup. My mate started last year at Liversedge and followed the winner of each tie all the way to the final. he had a few hairy ticket moments in 1/4 Final & Final but managed to go to all 16 games. If we don't start the season after going yesterday I'm gonna try and do the same. Next round for me would be Wythenshawe Vs Vauxhall Motors on the 16th August.
