Video- DEBT ON GROUND NOT SORTED
jonesy87shef replied to punkyhorrors's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Head up mate. Ignore the negative comments, they will disappear eventually -
You work in hospitality and you’re suggesting the profit on food and drink is absolutely nothing. Sorry but that’s testicles. Booze you’re looking at a minimum 150% markup and that’s top end things like Guinness on draught. Lager you can be up to 500% if it’s a £5+ on draught, more for cans. The markup on food is even more. My favourite is the Costco bottles of water they sell everywhere now for £1. It’s basically marked up about 1000%. The only way you can claim the profit not being that much per unit sold is if you factor in costs like staffing, utilities, packaging, rent etc. Cuntsiri has to pay these regardless, so if nobody buys anything he actually loses money on hospitality rather than making money.

They do say opinions are like arsèholes, everyone’s got one, just my opinion that some stink much worse than others. Enjoy your weekend fella!

You have a very famous actor, who is seemingly beloved by his peers and fans who has actively supported us and publicised our issues to 1.1 million of his followers on Twitter. Rob, Ryan and Wrexham as a club are now directly financially helping our supporters trust. The more publicity and financial backing they receive, the greater chance we will eventually get that cancer out of our club. Does it post Rob and co in a positive light? Of course it does. Does it help shift their excess stock and bring in some cash back to them? Yes to that too. So bloody what. It’s a great PR, marketing, financial and human decision to make. If you can’t see the tangible benefits to both us and Wrexham you either have zero ability to think critically or you may need help. Also to add, some people like to buy football shirts, not just their own club. Who’d have thought it. Growing up I had dozens of football shirts and keeper tops, mainly Wednesday and foreign clubs from holidays, I also got the cheapest ones from sports direct as I played 7 days a week. It’s not sacrilege to own another team’s shirt, especially one that has never been a rival. Try to look for the positives. This literally has nothing negative about it.

I think there’s a happy medium HP could reach in his press conferences. He obviously can’t slag of DC. Imo he also doesn’t have to say things like ‘he’s trying his best’. Find the middle ground because sadly some people will continue to believe he’s trying his best and it’s not in the best long term interest of SWFC. I like HP, but feel he could chose better words regarding DC

The issue you have is that there are plenty of idiots who make things up and play on people’s emotions to farm engagement. Disinformation is a huge problem currently (wider subjects than football). That can be detrimental to some people’s mental health. On the flip side there are plenty of well intentioned people who work their arse off to bring factual and researched information sprinkled in with their opinion. I think a lot of sane, well balanced people whose job doesn’t necessarily depend on it have left Twitter due to the cesspit it has mainly become. Me and many friends limit ourselves to a few minutes a day to avoid the hate, division, disinformation, racism, homophobia etc that currently goes unchecked. I think that is partly what’s left with so many people getting abuse in the replies, the majority left are the unpleasant and abusive ones with less of the good intentioned people around. Where possible it’s best to ignore those who make things up (or block them), then engage with reputable people. Sorry to those that have felt the need to delete accounts or have a break due to the unpleasantness. Anyone who feels frustrated or wound up by what’s posted online, I’d suggest a break, or limiting how much time you spend a day on social media, or try to take it with a pinch of salt you’ll be much happier.

Minutes - Engagement panel

You can’t be serious! A known liar for over a decade and a bunch of sycophants who want to keep their seat at the table and access to the club. The chairman and some of these groups can’t be trusted. They don’t have the best interest of SWFC at heart. They are self serving egotistical narcissists. How you can defend the chairman and any propaganda he spits out is beyond me.   Apologies if I’ve misinterpreted your post as I’m knackered after 12 hours at work and it’s silly o’clock in the morning, but it reads as you’re backing up the clubs (chairman’s) version of events. I’ve got some magic beans to sell you if you’d like. Just sell your house first to pay for it otherwise you’re a bad customer. -
Owls v Middlesbrough Matchday Thread

Awful decision from the ref, got across him and the Boro player drags him down. Felt like he couldn’t wait to give it. Well done Price, excellent double save -
I promise you these people exist. It usually starts with the words “you don’t understand”. Then followed by the most bizarre incoherent nonsense imaginable. Everyone and everything else is to blame except our dear leader. The inability for a huge amount of our population to think critically is frightening. I believe this is mainly due to issues and situations being so polarising nowadays. People nail their colours to the mast and that’s them done. A good philosophy I personally like is ‘always be open to being wrong’, it makes life much easier.

Gave far too many cheap free kicks their way, bought everything they sold. Diaz has the clearest red you’ll see, yet he doesn’t even book him. The sad thing for me, despite my above opinion, he’s still been one of the better refs I’ve seen in a long time. Sums up the standard of refereeing in this country.

Think he suffered with us due to having so many forward options at the same time. He actually also scored a goal roughly every 220 minutes for us. I know it doesn’t work like this, but if he played 90 minutes over a 46 game season he’d average 19 goals a season for us. Had good spells when he got a run of games. His biggest issue was he never came close to fulfilling his potential. Seemed very lax in his approach. Could and should have played at a much higher level domestically and internationally. Still, was/is our record sale and one of very few players we turned a profit with. Sad he didn’t hit the highs he should have with us.

Didn’t know Kurt Zoumas’ a Wednesday fan -
They also tend to pack the midfield and make it hard for the opposition to break down. We’d need a massive overhaul to play how they do to grind out wins. We don’t have the defensive quality throughout the whole starting 11 no matter who we pick to do what they do especially with our vulnerability at set-pieces. Attack is often our best form of defence and if we get that 2nd goal we win. When we are 1 up or are drawing, even in games we’ve gone on to win, we’ve rode our luck plenty. A goal scorer would have and still could make a huge difference.
-
As I said a centre back is a priority, but 6 wins when we’ve conceded and 5 wins and 2 draws with clean sheets means we’ve amassed more points when we concede than when we don’t this season so far. It also shouldn’t be a choice between a defender and a forward. If I had to pick one it’d be a defender obviously, but it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be aiming for better quality in other areas of the pitch. Imagine where we could be in the league with a clinical forward even with the goals we leak.
-
Centre back is clearly a priority, but I disagree with those that don’t see a striker as very important based purely on the number of goals we’ve scored compared to others in the league. Think of how many games we’ve been well on top and thrown points away (especially at home). If we had a more clinical forward or kept the ball better then we’d have killed games off, also meaning teams have to attack us more, creating better opportunities to counter attack. We’ve been 2 goals up in 8 games so far this season winning all 8 games, Plymouth, West Brom, Hull, Norwich, Stoke, Oxford, QPR and Derby. Obviously going 2 up is a huge advantage. That is 24 points from 24. When having a 1 goal lead we’ve dropped points in 4 matches, Luton (L), QPR (D), Bristol City (D), Millwall (D), 9 points dropped. Considering we’ve won 11 league games this season and 8 of those games at some point we’ve had a 2 goal lead, it shows how crucial getting that 2nd goal has been for us. I’d also say surprisingly only 4 wins from 11 have been by a single goal. 2 of those wins were in stoppage time and one in the 86th minute vs West Brom. Seems to me, if there is potential to loan a striker who would be an improvement it should be explored because the numbers say if we go 2 up we win.

6 clean sheets in 28 matches
jonesy87shef replied to crookesowl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I’d be interested to know opposition teams XG vs us. Teams seem to score with their first half chance more than often. Obviously better players/teams are more clinical so therefore need less chances to score, but it often seems we are pinned back by the oppositions first meaningful attack. Bizarrely as a unit I think we defend reasonably well the majority of the time because to the naked eye we often seem to limit opportunities to the opposition. Then we have individual brain farts and concede poor goals, usually down to letting players run (walk off) markers, allowing crosses to easily etc. It often feels like we are 1 quality centre back off having a good defence, a ball winner and organiser, calm head at the back. Fingers crossed we can bring in at least 1 centre half this window. Not holding out too much hope sadly. -

See my previous post regarding that, it should also be cut out, but trust me keepers are taught starting positions and his was to deep in that moment. Rotherwell far to much space, Bernard ball watching. Unfortunately keeper is the last line of defence and I know all to well you’ll get the blame as you’re the last player that can stop it a goal. He’s a great keeper and I really rate him, but it’s also his mistake. -

His starting position was on his 6 yard line when Rothwell had the ball 5 yards inside our half. He should be several yards further forward. Gets his starting position correct and there’s no goal. That said midfield gave far to much space and runner wasn’t tracked well. I’m a fan of Beadle btw, goal aside he’s playing well, but I’d wager he’d be the first to say it was a mistake by him. -

Good first half. Just missing final ball or clinical finish. Beadle made a couple of good saves but poor for the goal. Often feel his starting position is a bit to deep when the opposition has the ball. If he’s a couple of yards further forward that pass isn’t on or he collects it comfortably, alternatively he needs to be stronger and hold onto the ball. This game isn’t beyond which is encouraging to say we are away at the team who started the weekend top who’s bench would probably sell for more than our whole club, unless Chansiri is the owner of course -

Imagine complaining that a professional footballer who plays as a striker who also has taken penalties is given the ball. Shouldn’t matter if his confidence is shot, he scores 4/5 times. Annoying, but I back that decision as smith isn’t on the pitch and both Bannan and Windass have missed them in the past. -

Röhl needs to come out after this match and go apeshit about the officials. It’s been beyond a joke for a long time now and 5 points in 2 games is completely unacceptable. Make it known, other clubs and managers do, about time we followed suit when it’s this bad. -
In fairness, this is the thread title 2024 SUMMER TRANSFER RUMOUR MEGATHREAD dedicated to gurujuan. It’s not Sheffield Wednesday specific rumours, and how else would you make it a MEGAthread. Personally I come on here to see all championship rumours and completed deals. My preference is to not have page after page of commentary on other clubs after the link or hundreds of pages dedicated to unrelated topics. Each to their own though, but I’m sure lots of people are interested in what’s happening at other clubs during the window. We just have to scroll past the bits that don’t interest us.
