  1. Yeah I mean this is a highly plausible scenario. I guess my point is more that Röhl will already have had a good understanding of Chansiri and what he was like to work for when he signed the contract extension. Kind of begs the question why he would sign a long term contract with a big release clause. Presumably Röhl considered it in his own interests to do so at the time.
  2. Neither do I. But you have to question why Röhl signed a new contract last year. Presumably because he felt the terms/ pay suited him. He would have been well aware at that point of what working for Chansiri was like. To be clear I haven't turned on Röhl and hope he stays but I do think his comments in the media haven't been the best.
  3. I guess the answer is that the clubs that are interested in Röhl don't think he's worth paying 5 million for. I mean Southampton weren't prepared to pay it in January so I guess they won't be prepared to pay it now. Don't know where that leaves things if a compromise can't be made - and knowing chansiris past history I cant see him letting Röhl leave for less than the full amount stated in the contract.
  4. Röhl is understandably desperate to leave but it will only happen if someone is prepared to pay the compensation. Röhl is our most valuable asset, theres no reason for the club to go out of it's way to help him to leave.
  5. Röhl wanted out when Southampton came in for him and one assumes he agreed to go there a while back. Recent performances suggest to me Röhl doesn't much care about finishing the season well as he's always sorted for next season anyway. We'll presumably get to see how good he is next season at a club that isn't a disaster. If he is going to Southampton it will be interesting to see how he copes with the pressure of a team expected to win every week.
  6. Or he's just a decent bloke, trying to do right by the club and the youngsters. He's obviously always sorted for next season so won't matter too much to him that the results are now crap.
  7. We have nothing to play for and Röhl is leaving in the summer so no surprise to see our performance today. It's true our home form has been poor all season but up until recently the performances were generally okish. I think it's just a case of everyone being desperate for the season to end now.
  8. You don't think him leaving in the summer is already a certainty?
  9. Was it not the case that he was instructed from above to get rid of the older high earners and play the youngsters? Pretty sure I remember that being the situation although I could be wrong.
  10. We're currently on course to achieve 62 points and a ppg average of 1.3. That's very much mid table form. I think the fact that the current points total needed for 6th is so low skews thing a bit. At the moment it's on track to be 67. I can't remember a team ever achieving a top 6 finish on that before and I strongly suspect a couple of teams will hit form and take that upwards by the end of the season. The reality is we are nowhere near a top 6 side right now. We simply lack the quality. We are a bottom third squad overachieving due to good management.
  11. So Southampton have made an illegal approach for Röhl and have also said if we want to keep Charles we have to now pay a massively increased loan fee. Given Southampton's behaviour it doesn't seem like a terrible idea to say we'll let the illegal approach slide if they allow Charles to stay on the originally agreed terms. Not sure I have an issue with this.
  12. We all know where the blame lies. The same place is always does and always will. I do think people need to understand though that we are just a means to an end to Röhl, a stepping stone to better things. The idea that he was ever going to stay here long term was always pie in the sky. He will have been well aware of what Chansiri was like before he joined. He will have seen how Moore was treated and other managers before him. The plan would have been make an impact and jump ship as soon as a better opportunity became available. It did at Southampton and he's annoyed he's been blocked from taking it.
  13. Danny's just playing the game. He knows full well he won't receive big backing in January. A couple of decent loans maybe but nothing more than that. Very few teams make major changes in January unless they are suring up a promotion push or possibly trying to stay up.
  14. He won't be seriously backed in January. Where's the motivation for Chansiri? We have no chance of making the playoffs and aren't in serious trouble of relegation either. The January window is a notoriously hard time to make good value signings. You can sometimes get decent loan players in but then they are gone next season. I would be surprised if Röhl if genuinely expects significant backing in the window or that it would be a deal breaker for him if he doesn't.
  15. Whilst you can't complain with our league position or points total most of our games are a pretty hard watch. Very little entertainment so far this season, especially at home.
