When he asked the fans to pay the HMRC bill, so about 2 years ago. It was the last of many straws. I'd already stopped buying season ticket after the COVID refund debacle, but still went to most matches. Then when he sacked and basically defamed Moore, I cut back and only been a couple of times so far that season. The HMRC thing was the end for me. But the minute he's gone, I'll be hoping for. Season ticket announcement.

Can't believe what I'm seeing between delighted. Interesting the only other player you really see in those clips is Palmer and you see him several times. For some time I've been saying to people that if Bannan and Palmer leave, it is time to give up. They would never leave unless they had to It's almost as if there is a subtle second message in this.

Anyone who buys this whilst Chansiri is still here is part of the problem. Might have to avoid social media for a few days as I'll only get angry with all the 'bought it for the whole family' pictures. Each to their own though.

New Shirt Sponsor: Mr Vegas Casino

Hate to break it to you mate but most of the people who watched SpongeBob are likely in their 30s by now. Imagine how old that makes us! -

They have with the Prem haven't they? Hopefully more of football will follow suit but doesn't help when the league is sponsored by them. Oh wait, just got the pun! -

I know no-one cares but I loved being on of the clubs that didn't bend to gambling sponsors. The sooner they ban it the better. -
New Ticket Price & Revenue Strategy
Leaping Lannys Perm replied to owls101's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
So the average is only specifically for when 3 generations go together? If so I guess it could be accurate but that would be massively statistic shopping. Which is still part of my main point. The overall economic argument is sound, and something I'd support, but the figures have been massaged at best and falsified at worst in a way that no real Harvard professor ever would. To be honest, it is a symptom of my profession that the approach taken has clouded my judgement of the leading argument. Most people probably don't care and rightly so. -

I get there is a different culture. But to believe that the hospitality spend per fan is more in one game than an entire season ticket seems completely unrealistic. -
New Ticket Price & Revenue Strategy

I agree there is something in the argument. There is definitely a sweet spot involving lover price point leading to the highest revenue. I doubt it would be to cut it in half for example, as we literally can't double our attendance, but there will be a point where cost and demand meet in the correct way. But this particular tweet is probably very much massaging the figures. I assume it is probably that there aren't many €170 STs and the average is quite a bit higher. But at the same time probably still much lower than the Wednesday average. -

The moment you see the £180 average spend per match on other bits it becomes clear that the figures in this are bullshit. This is either one of those posts with deliberate errors in to drive engagement by people replying to correct them, or this is some random bloke who is pretending to be knowledgeable and failing. I agree with the argument that lower ticket prices can drive up attendance, and with the right balance, would actually lead to more revenue. But these figures look well suss and made up. Too extreme. Are we supposed to believe that of Bayern changed $350 instead, they be more than half empty? Yes other spends might go down to make up some of the difference, but this argument only works if you believe the German mega club that wins every week could only draw 40-45k fans at even moderately higher prices. -
Pay monthly season tickets
Leaping Lannys Perm replied to Otley Owl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
For my understanding, are we talking about spreading payments over 12 months, or a subscription thing that you can turn on and off? Seems like those are two very different things, just both happen to be paid monthly. -
Absolutely. I stopped buying a season ticket after the COVID refund fiasco but still went to a decent number of games pay per game. Just didn't trust him enough for any sort of long term commitment. But that got less and less in the last two years. Pretty much gave up when he started threatening to pull funding from the club and it's only been the odd game since. Been giving my money to Yorkshire cricket at my local non-league team as well. I'll jump straight back on board if he's gone. Guessing year 1 back will be expensive coming in at the last minute, but still look forward to it.

Ranking our managers under DC..

I think people are sleeping on Lukukay. He was like the lost member of Sparks and those guys are really funny. Pretty certain he based his entire look and demeanor on Ron Meal. -
Frickley Athletic v Wednesday XI

Thanks for the flag on this OP. Just down the road from me so bought a ticket. Refuse to give Chancer a penny but happy to spend my money supporting local clubs via a Wednesday connection. -
Of course a guy with a Joe Hendry avatar still believes. P.s. so do I.

Pre Season games between 1995-2005
Leaping Lannys Perm replied to GoldenLee's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Remember the York friendly well. Me and my daughters went, whilst my wife went shopping in the city centre. We were turned away from 2 different pubs because my kids, aged 8 and 6 at the time, were wearing football shirts, which apparently made them potential hooligans. The irony is that it was also race day. We saw countless fights involving pissed up people in suits or dresses and not one involving football fans. But apparently the two small children were the real danger. -
This is an excellent point. Not everyone is given the chance to go and see the team they follow when growing up and certainly not regularly. In fact, in the Sky TV era, I imagine that is the common default. My dad wasn't into football and we lived in West Yorkshire so I only went a handful of time growing up. 99% of the games I've been to came after I was old enough to take myself. Then when I was a student I could keep going as back then we did great student deals. Now I was a Wednesday fan but I definitely got more hooked when I was able to get to games. I'm sure it is possible for someone who 'supports' a Top 6 team from hundreds of miles away to get the first chance to go to games in their uni city with their mates and end up hooked on a new club.
-
Christ there are some angry people on here. Heaven forfend we try to encourage a wider group of people to attend games. What about the students that are local? What about those who are on end of term breaks? Or home for the weekend? Wouldn't it be a good idea to encourage them to games? And not all students are transient. Know loads of people from Uni who stayed in the city (Lincoln) after graduation. I can think of at least 3 examples of people I am still in touch with (and I'm not blessed with hundreds of mates) who still regularly attend games at Sincil Bank 24 years after originally moving to the city for Uni. But no, nobody should get something I am not, regardless of circumstances.

Suspect the main reason it to amortise the transfer fee for longer. But that's standard, not at all a complaint.
