  1. If you take a look at Brightons finances it's enough to get you into the champions league theoretically , Tony Bloom since he took charge has ploughed £267 million pounds in to the club , if you look at it like that it seems almost Chelskiesk but look deeper and solely at their transfer dealings in realty he has spent roughly £25 million on players recouping around £15 million of that selling the odd player along the way , Ulloa for £8 million as a example replacing him with a £1 million striker Baldock who in today's market would be a 4-5 million pound player , Hughton also picked up Beram Kayal for £350 k and some ridiculous bargain free transfers , the purchase of Knockeart for 2.5 million turned out to be the icing on their cake and currently their club record spend is 4 million for shane Duffy who did not feature in the last 3 months of the season through injury but they had adequate cover all over the pitch with a fraction of the cost , i think the seasons total was just over 7 million in bringing in players on contracts with some very astute loan deals , one of the most important things a club like Wednesday must have is a quality scouting team that actually travel further than sunny spain to find the gem bargains , it's becoming harder and harder to compete with teams coming down with huge parachute payments but Brighton have done it and with foresight from their chairman have the infrastructure to become a established premier league club , obviously they will have to acclimatise to the workings of premier league transfers but if i could recommend one person to sign from Brightons set up it would be Paul Winstanley their recruitment head , stick with Carlos if he wants to stay but he must have the right tools to get the job done and yet again some of the tools he has are not the sharpest in the box .
  2. If you don't get angry and frustrated when your team loses then it's time to take up lawn boules or saturday afternoon scrabble matches , if my team play like absolute donkeys and yet still manage win i'm over the moon and care little of how unlucky the other team were in losing , every fan of every different club feels exactly the same about their team , it's easy to forget the against the run of play wins , the should of won defeats seem to stick in the mind longer , i actually thought it was a great game to watch with a cup tie sort of atmosphere.
  3. Can't think of any championship team that he wouldn't walk straight in to , and on current form plenty of top flight clubs must be sniffing , he won't leave Brighton this season for any club after the way they supported him after the death of his father , no matter what you may think of the man he really is a very fine player , a lot of very good defenders have been left in his wake this season so to brand Pudil as useless is slightly unfair , every now and then you come up against somebody better than yourself , that's just how it is .
  4. With March now fully fit and Knockaert on the other wing it will be a very long night for the Wednesday defenders . 2-0 Murray-Baldock .
  5. Pies with meat in them .
  6. Very Classy
  7. The pass Dunk played through to baldock for the goal was just outrageous , very good all round player suprised he signed a new 5 year deal a couple of weeks ago , a top flight CB with a passing range any midfield playmaker would be happy with .
  8. Knockaert different class , onward and upward .
  9. If Kayal and Stephens had played there would be a winner either way , Sidwell, and Norwood playing = 0-0
  10. Kayal came through a fitness test yesterday morning and a decision will be made on him tomorrow, he travelled with the squad so may yet play , Stephens is a big loss but Norwood looks up to speed now so will probably get the nod if any Kayal doubts , no point in risking him before a 2 week break , 0-0 and another £100 notes down the kazoo.
  11. Congratulations .
  12. Got away with a police caution , and aged 6 years overnight , good luck getting a assault charge against the stewards on that video evidence
  13. Only seen him the once didnt play in the other 2 games i saw , looks ok at holding the ball up for the midfield but looked a little isolated the way we set up , would benefit from a 4-4-2 formation but managers seem very reluctant to use that formation these days early days but if leicester were prepared to pay a crazy £10 million to us for Ulloa i would put a £1.5 million price tag on O'Grady in relative terms from what ive seen of him at Barnsley and here .
  14. It could be interesting pre kick off with 5 thousand new season ticket holders trying to bunk in due to the club not sending them out as yet , as for the game , heart says 1-1 , head says we are not quite a unit yet 1-2
  15. In truth i dont think anybody including Hyppia at the moment has a clue what our best formation starting 11 will be , ive seen 3 of our pre season games and our style of play has changed dramaticaly already , theres not so much tippy tappy rather quite a bit of launchy launchy , im not worried as such but the signs are its going to be a struggle early season .
  16. Thanks for the preview , Its nice to see a person thinking we, (Brighton) are going for it this season with some big signings , in reality though we have lost our 3 top performers from last season + Barnes to Burnley , yep we have brought in Hughes CB O'Grady and Toko but at the present moment our squad looks a lot weaker than last season , going to be a interesting 1st few games for Brighton and tbh i would take a draw on saturday right now . I see Antonio maybe on his way out and from what i have seen of him the 1.75 Million valuation is a snip for Forest and worth a fair bit more than that , so i hope you sell him before saturday obviously , if you do manage to hold on to him until deadline day odds are his price would inflate itself a fair bit .
  17. Bad ankle injury middle of last season , injured it again during rehab a few weeks ago unlikely to figure again until the new year .
  18. Brighton are plagued by injuries and are without , Bridcutt , Cms , Hoskins , Orlandi , to name a few , a terrible start to the season then a six match unbeaten run including 2 away 0-0s v Reading and Qpr , saturday Brighton were dire after missing a early sitter , Ipswich scored 2 quick goals and that was that. Brighton welcome back Ulloa tonight after a 3 match ban for trying to kick somebodys head off , when he isnt doing that , he is a quality player . A draw is quite possible if Wednesday park the bus , Brighton tend to spend ages passing it around in thier own half and do this with consumate ease but can run out of attacking ideas just as easily . In Brightons last home game v Bolton Garcia played 2 wingers in LuaLua and Buckley and without wishing to sound smug they simply destroyed the Bolton defence in 5 2nd half minutes then simply knocked the ball around again for 40 minutes . This does not seem a game where i can say its a gimme 3 points for Brighton simply because Garcia is still tinkering with the team and we are a long way off being as good as last season so yes a win for wednesday is not beyond the realms of possibility imo . With Ulloa back i will still go with 2-0 home win but would not be suprised by any other match result either way .
  19. 0-2 Llera both og's 19,785
  20. 3-0 Muzza Bennett Calderon
  21. Ile try and fill you in on whats actually in place at Brighton , Hard to imagine we will go from playing at a decrepid run down athletics track to this next season but there it is http://www.countdown2falmer.co.uk/jan11.php, Squad building continues , offers for our players thankfully continue to be turned down , Poyet is 13 months into a 4 year contract and thus far has turned down 3 attractive offers from other clubs , we are debt free ( theoretically that is ) Tony Bloom a lifelong brighton fan has paid for the stadium out of his own pocket as a interest free loan ,and has openly stated he will not be sending any final demands on it :) all in all if you are a Brighton supporter atm things have never looked so good , yes Managers leave for what they perceive to be better bigger clubs but poyet has won nothing yet and needs a managerial cv to tempt the bigboys in at a later date, you do not obtain a quality cv by jumping ship at the 1st sniff of a better offer in theory , no disrespect to Owls supporters but its a non starter imho
  22. You are contradicting yourself somewhat here, Brighton = a joke club , no fans , no history ,no potential . ect ect , thats youre opinion and you are entitled to it, but to also say in the same post ,Sadly he wouldnt come here , why is that do you think ? .
  23. Remember this team ? Moseley Stevens Pearce Grealish Foster Gatting Case Howlett Smillie Smith Robinson sub. O Regan
