Virtually every football club already will have a going concern note which will explain that they are reliant on cash from the owner to underwrite losses.
The real info will be about the level of debt /cash in the company.
I am a current auditor and this is pretty bang on.
The point of audited accounts is to give information to those wishing to to do business with/invest in a particular company. I don’t think the going concern status of future accounts (which are by nature always about a year old) will tell anyone anything they don’t already know from the press.
A few things:
- the audited accounts are of the club, not DC and his personal finances/any commitments he has linked to his investment in the club are not looked at (as not in the club accounts)
- the rules give you 9 months after a financial period ends to report it, club year finishes in July so we only have July 2024 numbers at the min
- note we have changed auditors since the whole ground thing, current accounts signed off by what seems to be a specialist firm who audit lots of sports entities
We are playing the best football in years yet attendances are below out average.
Is it the catering? No, the service is actually better than it was last season.
Is it the PR? No, we have had more coverage than in years.
It is the prices. Refund the memberships and make all tickets the price of members tickets. Job done.
at people slagging off the opening post then actually agreeing with everything in it :-)
Only thing I don't agree with is that I see Lopez as a holding player but that is hardly important.
Genuinely can't remember the last time we had such a good/big squad. A quality striker and 3 or 4 leaving and we have a balanced squad.
Now we just need to all calm down and let Carlos get on with it. On the kop yesterday people slagging off Lopez abd Mathias - they are clearly a cut above what we have had in ages and with time all will be good...
Gray's reputation in the game is such that he probably will attract players - he is seen universally as a good coach and has worked at lots of top clubs (similar to Alan Irvine).
It is some fans who are underwhelmed by him. But the new owners were clear that they don't actually know much about football and have appointed advisors to help them.
Also the press trying to fill a vacuum as whilst there is a big story (us having cash to spend/an innovative way of running the club/foreign owners) and the newspapers are desperate to write about us there is little new info to write a new story about. So until we actually sign someone or give some exclusive interviews on how the new structure will actually work then this kind of rubbish will keep getting printed.
At fault for the goal. Should have been sent off in the first half for the terrible challenge on Wells.
Can't pass 5 yards and has an awful first touch.
Better than most defenders we have had over the last decade but not a top level defender.
We played that formation for the first 2 months of the season (it was that and not 4-5-1, the middle player off the forward was usually JJ and he was not playing centre mid)
The formation doesn't matter when we have this bloke in charge. We need a change to give the club a lift. The fans have lost confidence/interest and it isn't going to change whilst he is here. Even if we win the next 3 everyone is a bit meh.
Stuart Pearce is a terrible manager. He doesn't know the first thing about motivating a team, setting one up tactically or achieving anything in the championship.
Great player but has been a terrible manager. Di Canio or Carbone would be better (they would both be awful choices but I struggle to think of a worse bloke than Pearce!)
Our injuries at the back are bad luck but we can't afford to have two sets of defenders.
The need for a forward is clear when you watch our balance of play. We are on top for large parts of games (yesterday, Millwall) yet only get the odd goal. A finisher alongside Nuhiu would get a lot of chances (Lita/Sharpe). We have no chance of finishing int he top half unless we get someone like that in our squad.
I also think we need a creative player, or someone who can cross to offer a different option to the sheer pace we have. Based on a few games I am not impressed with Maghoma but he may grow into that role.
The players who have played for us since Mandaric has been here are the best set of players we have had since we left the Premier League.
Sadly though many of them have been loans.
Our budget will not have altered much from last season. Re-signing Llera, Coke, JJ and Prutton essentially meant we were not going to sign many players.
Nuhiu has been great whenever I have seen him. We will be OK when we sign 3 loan players next week. They are bound to be good (most if not all of our loan players have been good signings since Mandaric has been here).
(but yes - Jones is not inspiring me, the decision to re-sign everyone was an error in my opinion and we have lacked spark at home so far)
