  1. I have followed football for a long, long time yet it amazes me the amount of time that fit, young players take to get over injuries - now obviously I realize that if a player has a cartledge problem or similar they do take time to heal and then some extra time to get match fit, however, it does seem nowadays that every player that picks up an injury are out for weeks and weeks. As the poster has enquired I too would welcome an update on our injured players as we will need as many fit players as possible over the next few weeks.
  2. I’ve been having a bit of trouble with my tv and couldn’t get some of the channels despite trying all the resets. So, asked a guy I know that knows a bit about televisions if he would pop round this morning. He sorted the problem out and fitted a new receiver and the picture is now brilliant. However, when it came to ask him how much I owed him he said nothing but put the money to Sheffield Wednesday to help pay the wages. Despite telling him that they were now covered until the end of Jan his reply was really heartwarming - he said he had always liked Barry Bannan who played for a short time with Bolton Wanderers and after seeing his wonder goal last week he said he thought Barry was still one of the great players outside the Premiership that he really enjoyed watching and epitomizes what he likes in a good footballer. i thought that was great coming from a very staunch Bolton supporter so when I come to the Derby game I’m going to donate £50 to the club as instructed by Phil my tv repair man. A Great Gesture from a Wanderers fan.
  3. With this in mind why doesn’t the EFL relax their regulations that all creditors should receive a minimum of 25% and effectively give the ‘con man’ nothing - zero. Surely there should be enough evidence that he was not paying the debts owed to other clubs etc. so why should he benefit from his total mismanagement. If the EFL took this action then Legitimate creditors could benefit from more than 25%. im sure there are 30,000 fans and indeed a few creditors that would welcome this stance and if the EFL flexed their muscles and powers it would show other unscrupulous owners that they and the new regulators mean business.
  4. Yes I’m told that ticket prices to see games in the States can be quite high by comparison to the average cost of a seat to watch football in the UK. However, in most cases their stadiums and facilities are first class and designed to give the customers a good experience. We have experienced high ticket prices for the last 10 years but as we all know the standards of our match day experience have dropped to near zero. While we are crying out for major investment I seriously hope it doesn’t have a major impact on the costs associated with our matchday experience. Football in the UK is still largely supported by the working men and women and long may it continue.
  5. At a time when we have a depleted amount of players and have been watching the overheads WHY does HP need as many back room staff. Just like when Röhl was manager I think it’s far too many and to be fair it does make you ask the question ‘ do we really need that many ? It makes you wonder how many other clubs in our financial state have got 18/19 back room staff.
  6. Through friends, I have attended a few games at Anfield this season and it was very noticeable that large sections of the crowd outside and waiting to go in were Scandinavian, Chinese and Other groups which were difficult to determine their nationality. Surely if and when we do get into the Premiership we may well attract some passionate foreign football fans to Hillsborough that would certainly add to the attendance and cash into the club.
  7. I’ve said it before, when he came on loan we had a team full of seasoned professionals who knew how to attack and provide opportunities for the forwards. in other words they did a lot of the work, now he has to work hard he just doesn’t look interested and shows no sign that he even knows how to score. He either needs to be sold or loaned out to a team in a far lower league.
  8. As an ex striker I always take a particular interest in the movement, the ball control, the positioning, the strength and passion, the ability to strike the ball with either foot and above all the want and ability to score goals. But regretfully in Ugbo I don’t see any of that this season which makes me ask WHY ! What the hell has happened to that player we had on loan. Now I appreciate he had a full compliment of first team professionals to do much of the work for him and in reality all he had to do was to put an end to the moves by sticking in the net but now he’s not on loan he obviously just prefers to limp around until the final whistle. What is most annoying is that every other player in the team over this difficult period have been performing above and beyond.
  9. Thanks for your response, my sentiments entirely.
  10. I do appreciate that and maybe at their age they wouldn’t want to sit in a cold stand but never the less it would be a great thing to do as an acknowledgment from the new owners to the long lasting support and help they have given the club over many years.
  11. As we are at the point where we are eagerly welcoming back to Hillsborough those fans than chose to stay away during the reign of the manchild, is it about the right time to also welcome back with ‘open arms’ our ‘older statesmen’, including :- The Right Honorable Roy Hattersley now admittedly in his most senior years as he was always a favorite to see sat in the Directors Box but I do think it would also be great to try and encourage back Mr.Howard Wilkinson MBE as I am sure he remains one of our very popular ‘Statesmen’ who has done a lot for the club. As an ex player and manager Howard gave the club a lot of his valuable experience and advice before resigning prior to the takeover by Milan Manderic. For several years we would see Howard at home games but I guess things behind the scenes didn’t sit well with Howard and he chose to stay away. His absence has been acknowledged by many fans particularly those who sit behind the Director’s box as he always had time to speak to the fans It would be fitting as we enter a new and interesting future that the club acknowledges their ‘older statesmen’ and we see them again at Hillsborough.
  12. We all know a striker predominantly works off instinct which is what we saw in George Brown and even last night with Cadiz but I’m afraid Ugbo simply does not possess any natural instinct you would expect a championship striker to have. i know some will say he was good when we had him on loan but then he was surrounded by ‘seasoned professionals’ playing along the side of him. We literally don’t have that situation right now and his performances have been nothing short of abysmal especially when everyone else have either upped their game or are giving their all. To be fair I don’t believe Hirsty can work miracles so he’d be wasting his time with Ugbo. i do believe Brown and Cadiz and maybe some of the other young strikers we currently have on the books would definitely benefit from his knowledge and experience.
  13. I do believe if there were any player the administrators could get money for Ugbo would be top of the list. He’s another player who’s had ten minutes of fame and now just goes through the motions. if we had a proper 1st team he wouldn’t even make the bench. Just not worth ‘the shirt’
  14. Sounds good to me - when the new owner is established I’d put your proposal forward.. id just add that an decent well thought out upgrade to the 1867 room would make it more welcoming for supporters and potential wedding parties.
  15. I must admit I am a bit disappointed by the complete silence from Trevor over the last 3-4 months Admittedly he too was probably told by the owner (I wont highlight the cretins name) not to speak with any of the media etc. but if he had any morals I would of expected him to ‘ bite the bullet’ and at the very least speak to the guys at the Trust obviously ‘in confidence’ and while I have no evidence as to whether he did or didn’t, nothing was ever reported as to the general being and the welfare of all the staff behind the scenes who were left completely in the dark on just about everything. Sorry Trevor but I think that’s poor!
  16. 1867 Wednesday Gin - Great on any day of the week.
  17. I’d like to add to the speculation by saying that I was told today before the game that ‘3’ representatives of the Walton Penner Group were in Sheffield yesterday (Friday) and may be attending the game today. Just seems coincidental that everyone is mentioning three !!
  18. I’m told Dave Richard’s Snr and his son has too close a tie to past investors connected to British football clubs like Leicester, Reading and indeed SWFC so I would prefer an American consortium at least they would get world wide media coverage incorporating our footballing history that would invariably bring in much needed extra revenue into the club. Make it happen.
  19. One of our posters said that since the elephants were attacked with black paint they have been cleaned and moved behind the reception doors.
  20. It’s reported that he is trying to negotiate with HMRC to get him longer time to pay. Surely HMRC must not give in to him as his track record is lousy. Come on HMRC - Enough is Enough Please help us and get rid of this pathetic man child.
  21. I ended up paying £555 just because I missed the early birds out of protest but didn’t want to lose my seat that I’ve had for 20 years. i believed he’d be gone by now with all the ITK. So far only been to one game but I live in hope (I don’t really I live in Bolton)
  22. Don’t think Mike Ashley’s bid will be good enough to stave off other bidders as historically he looks to take over the debt and buy the company for £1. we will all have to wait and see.
  23. If I was the new owner of SWFC I would commission a sculptor to make a statue of Barry and put it in a prominent position on the entry to the ground. He is definitely has all the attributes of a legend.
  24. Apparently as posted it’s only a handful of players who are threatening not to train later this week.If that were to happen the The Manager can only select from those players that have turned up and trained. That being what happens then the EFL will I am sure insist that the club fields a full squad of players for Saturdays game. Pedersen would have to bring in more U18 players to effectively make up the numbers and ensure he has sufficient numbers to put out a squad on Saturday afternoon.
