  1. There are always ways and means was my point. 2000 tickets a game maybe? With a range of alternatives - vouchers for the shop or whatever. DC dug himself into a hole on ticket pricing. Doesn't mean that new thinking can't find a way out.
  2. I'm pretty sure there are ways to soften any blow. How about bring a friend for free, discounted/free cup tickets, vouchers for money off merchandise, discounted/free entry to restaurants or executive lounge? Keeps current ST holders sweet - allows for new ideas/pricing from any new owner.
  3. Never scored a penalty again in professional football after the hat-trick (true story).
  4. I learned today that Lee Hendrie lives on my road. Somewhat coincidental I felt.
  5. There can be no mention of the 70s without reference to Tony Toms. Here he is, leading the squad on an infamous trip up on the Moors.
  6. Postponed after the Fa Cup semi final was held at S6. I believe there's a very interesting book still available in the Megastore and elsewhere all about those times
  7. Very sad news indeed. Steve was a lovely bloke and member of an Owls dynasty as his dad - Dennis was a former player and commercial manager. Steve doing great work with the ICO and Young Owls. Rest in Peace.
  8. I live in the West Midlands. In laws are all Birmingham City fans. Today is a good day.
  9. And me... right down the front in a floppy hat.
  10. 8 according to your list... but yeah HW over Big Ron I guess.
  11. I hear that there's a decent book all about those times Researching it, I watched as many of these clips as I could. The football was exciting, direct and skilful. I'd love to watch a 2020s equivalent. This game was no exception.
  12. With space for Ron Atkinson and Howard Wilkinson on the bench I'm sure
  13. Len Ashurst in at left back please.
  14. There's a very interesting book all about those times I'm told In it, I argue that the green shoots of recovery begin slightly earlier than May have been previously thought. Steve Burtenshaw's team were pretty dreadful on the pitch, but he developed the Middlewood Rovers link which bore fruit over the next decade. Bert McGee and his board began to get a grip of things in all sorts of areas again leading toonger term improvements on the pitch. Hillsborough was one of the finest stadiums in the country back then as well. What that tells us about the current situation I'm not sure :)
  15. If anyone does fancy it... give me a shout here or via the details on the ad. Should be a good do - he's got some great stories of his time with us
  16. If so, you might want to pop along to this. The special guest is now confirmed as legendary Owls defender - Mark Smith. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/swfc-from-the-bad-times-to-the-big-time-tickets-496343997257 Be great to see plenty there. It's FREE and I'll do my best to be interesting and entertaining. Cheers and UTO, John
  17. I was fortunate to speak to Len Ashurst in 2019. Among much else, he was very complimentary about Richard Walden which I guess explains the Newport link.
  18. I had a proper man crush on Atdhe. Thanks for the memories
  19. In Sheffield local studies library, they've got the Green Un on microfiche. Decades worth. I could happily spend the next few years sat in there reading back through them. Great memories.
  20. Really enjoyed myself at Wycombe yesterday. Great atmosphere, never thought we were going to concede even in that seemingly endless injury time.
