  1. Totally agree. Whether you like the band and/or song it isn't the type of song to gee the crowd up for the second half. It needs to be an anthem type of song which that isn't. To that end I say bring back the good ol' days of the 90's and "Are you ready for this" by 2 Unlimited!
  2. The speaker system is so crap and muffled we couldn't tell what the announcer was saying. It needs better sound system so we can hear what is being said and also on scoreboard to communicate what is going off. I suppose the confusion comes from clapping to a minute's silence of late which is different to Remberance. Apart from that it was well respected
  3. Actually I think these words are better. Let's forget about United they are irrelevant to us. Let's sing about Wednesday! I've just been playing it and singing along and it works if you switch "gonna rise" for "going to rise" Freed from Chansiri , Sheffield Wednesday's gonna rise
  4. We have 3 tickets and didn't go last night. We always buy in early bird but there's absolutely no way we will renew if Chansiri is still there early bird or not. I don't really want to do this as I've had a season ticket for over 50 years bar a couple of season when not in Sheffield, got my son a season ticket when he was 6 who still goes (albeit a lot older now!) but feel we have no alternative and should not fund Chansiri. (I was there in March 1976 on the lower Lep for the lowest league attendance too!) I would urge everyone NOT to renew if he is still here come early bird. Nobody is going to nick your seat as most people will not renew. It is the only way to force his hand. Buying tickets in January will just help him hang on in there. I would hope if we do get new owners they would come up with some reasonable prices to get people back to purchase season tickets in your old seat. Maybe something the Trust can negotiate when we get to that stage. We can live in hope he has gone before we need to renew but it doesn't look like it at present. I know of a lot of others in the same position as us who will not renew. As things stand it will be pretty miserable in League 1 next season with just a couple of thousand in the ground - worse than 1976!
  5. By far the biggest ticket income to DC at the moment is from away fans at Hillsborough. A full away end will generate roughly around £130-150K. That's just one game equal to the away amount for tickets for the whole season. And that's before they buy pints and pies in the ground. Are you going to tell other supporters not to come to Hillsborough? It would be great if they didn't turn up and give him money................... I do think one away game should be picked to be boycotted as a protest FWIW but away games currently seem to be where the protest is vocal and seen by other teams. It's dead at Hillsborough apart from the last pitch invasion
  6. It's a protest. It will show him the likely outcome when renewing season ticket sales comes about. I'm a season ticket holder and will boycott and won't be renewing our 3 season tickets when the time comes if he is still here. If 90+% of season ticket holders boycott this one match and also don't renew that would be incredible. He's not shifting without a big push.
  7. but there are 23 home games a season for which DC gets 95% - each home game with a full Lep end is roughly equivalent to a whole season of away games proceeds at 5%
  8. We've never sold home areas to away fans. That netted him an extra £10K (think tickets were £10 * 2000 split 50/50) - that is twice what 2 away games would nett him Biggest source of ticket income is undoubtely away fans coming to Hillsborough. Our away fans is insignificant in the bigger picture and takes the protest around the country. Until the Trust decide to recommend boycotting away games I back them 100%.
  9. Yes I realised afterwards the £1 admin was not part of the 5%, however the rest I said still stands - it is a fraction of one percentage of total income for a season By far the greatest source of ticket income which DC is receiving is coming from away fans at Hillsborough and is equivalent roughly in one home game to all of that for the entire season of away games. Home adult tickets for Boro range from £36-£41 so I guess away tickets are £36 minimum. DC has now started selling the lower Lep tier this season (or as seen for Grimsby part of the cantilever) to recoup lost income from boycotts So for sellouts of both tiers for likes of Coventry etc. and I expect Boro too which is around 3500(?) these days 95% of that is around £120K! Don't know if away fans are abstaining from buying pints and pies too?
  10. For me £26 senior ticket + £1 admin * 5% which is purported to be the amount a club receives for away tickets Over a season on an average of say 3000 tickets per game (some less than that) at an average of say £30 for 23 away games comes to £103,500 It may seem a lot but as a percentage of total income which was around £26M last year from memory(?) and will no doubt be less this year, it is less than 0.5% of total income! A totally insignificant amount in the bigger picture, and this year in particular I would say is worth it for the media exposure at away games and keeping Wednesday in the news. We'll soon be old news and nobody cares otherwise. Next year we will in League 1 or worse with not as much exposure. I go to very few away games, I went to Leicester as I wanted to take part in the protest - was that wrong? Was a huge success with media coverage. Home protests haven't been brilliant, just a shout out on the 10th minute apart from the pitch invasion by the brave souls who went on the pitch considering threats from SWFC to ban and prosecute anybody who went on. Away games take it to other parts of the country and receive support from those clubs in general (maybe not Birmingham from what I heard!) I think the Trust has done an amazing job with protests, scarves and other merchandise and having to take flak from people who don't come with any better suggestions which are legal (I'm not connected, just a member) and I'll back what they suggest. My only suggestion would be to have a boycott of one away game, preferably on TV. One which always sells out like Derby or one of a small club maybe like Oxford who would lose income from no ticket sales and just show the EFL and IFR the other side of the coin. (I've seen other previous posts about this but was also my thought that away support funds clubs - that is actually a snub to Chansiri that we are spending money at other grounds and not at Hillsborough - maybe we should post photos of supporters with black and gold scarves drinking pints at away games!). If the Trust call for such an away ban I would support it.
  11. Yes I've had "debates" on Facebook with some "fans" who don't support the boycott of buying merchandise and stuff at Hillsborough and don't suppport boycotting the boro game. I've tried (politely) to explain and ask if they actually have a season ticket or attend games POTG but don't get an answer just dogs abuse. They state we are casuing the staff hardship by boycotting and shouldn't be doing it!
  12. He is making £1.35 out of me including the £1 admin charge at Charlton. Away tickets cover the cost of the away club running their club and stadium so does cover stewards and any police they need in the ground etc. just like their home tickets will do
  13. £5K is peanuts. It will be eaten up by ticket office staff wages who deal with it(who aren't getting paid anyway!). Far more is spent on drinks, pies and merchandise at Hillsborough each match by those who still refuse to stop buying.
  14. Defintely need home stands empty. Yes, I would rather support the team as a season ticket holder but the situation is so dire we have to step up the boycotts and protests. There's actually Facebook posts about people disagreeing with all the various boycotts saying it is stopping the staff from being paid. Having a right thread with a couple of guys. They just don't get it. I asked one if he was a season ticket holder as we have 3 tickets. He got abusive and said he wouldn't answer it which probably says it all. I will be at Charlton. Again fans complaining about that but with 3000 tickets at max £30 each will mean d*ickhead at 5% will only get less that £5K from it which won't touch the sides.
  15. Blimey. First two editions only dropped through my letter box this morning and haven't had time to read them yet!
