Well said. Being a Wednesday fan teaches you to appreciate the good times when they happen and make the most of them — cos we have to endure enough crap times! It’s a good approach to take in life generally.

Completely blank slate for the new owners to come in and do things properly. Massive opportunity for ambitious, smart people. The fact that one of our own is involved in the sale process has got to be cause for optimism, even for us. Let’s look forward — a few months ago we were genuinely worried if we’d even still have a club to support!
-
Tough one to call. I bet most people hadn’t heard of Birmingham’s manager when they gave him the job last summer but he did brilliant. I hope the new owners are looking to get their people in asap so we can be fully prepared to hit the ground running next season — we know we’ll be in L1 so let’s start planning for it now and smash the league to bits.

It hurts, but nowhere near as much as it should do. If 24th October never happened then it’d be way worse.

This is probably it. Points deductions, embargoes, being described as “crisis club Sheffield Wednesday” for months. In 158 years, this is arguably the worst it’s ever been. However… Less than a month ago, we — as a fanbase — removed the cancer that put our club in this mess. Getting our club back is the biggest result we could achieve this season or any other season. We’re days/weeks away from a new dawn under new ownership, with several bids on the table. We know some of the interested parties are serious, wealthy people. One of the administrators is a Wednesday fan. We couldn’t be in better hands right now. Today is crap and it’ll sting for a bit, but things are going to get better very soon. Keep the faith, WAWAW

Today is as good as it’s ever gonna get for them scrubbers. Let them enjoy it because it int getting any better than this for them.

Aye I’m sure he is, but it also seems to be the case that his best isn’t good enough. Seems like a nice fella who’s stuck by us through possibly the lowest point of our 158 years and been dignified throughout. Today was crap but none of this is his fault. I don’t think he’s the answer for what we’re gonna need next season though.

I think it’s realistic to expect that ambitious new owners will want to start from scratch — can’t bloody wait

We’re playing L1 next season. HP has done an admirable job in the circumstances but if our new owners are serious then they’ll start planning for next season as soon as they get the keys. I don’t expect he’ll still be here in summer. Cheers Henrik and all the best for the future, but we need a completely fresh start.

They were better and deserved to win. We’ve got a crap squad and we put in a crap performance. Thing is, this is the lowest ebb in our existence whereas today is genuinely as good as it’s ever gonna get for them. Seriously — today is probably one of the best moments in their entire history. Let them enjoy it because, all being well, the natural order of things is about to be restored. Bitter, disappointed, yep. I’d still rather be in our shoes than theirs though. We’re all Wednesday, every f*cking time.

Derby days always matter, even though every result this season is insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Let’s not pretend otherwise.
-
We’ve already ensured this season is a successful one by getting rid of the previous owner, and we’re possibly on the cusp of a massively significant chapter in our club’s history. Today does feel different to a normal derby given our circumstances… but derby days always matter, I’m not having this “free hit” talk, the two games against them lot are the only games that matter this season cos our fate is already sealed. Expectations are very low and the odds are stacked against us, I just hope our lads give everything they’ve got today and remember the play off semi final a couple of years ago shows that anything is possible. Cmon Wednesday, give us summat to shout about.
-
I’m cautiously optimistic that with Kris involved we’ve hopefully got the best possible chance of ending up with a game-changing new owner. It’s got to be our turn for some good times after the last 25-30 years!
-
This is the only thing that matters. With the level of interest in the club, I reckon the winning bid could end up being in the region of £40-50m. You don’t pay that kind of money for what will be a third division club in a few months which needs significant investment in infrastructure and the playing squad unless you’re serious and in it for the long haul… right?

Any pubs around Crookes opening early tomorrow?

We may be on our arse but at least we're not Blades

There might also be a January break clause inserted in the loan contract - depends on the deal that was agreed. Would be funny if they have to keep Godfrey and his reported 70k per week wages, or pay Atalanta to send him back. -

Superb stuff. It feels good to feel good about Wednesday again! -
Didn’t know Fred Dibnah was from Birmingham

Can’t remember who originally said “they haven’t overtaken us, we’ve just reversed past them” but it’s so true. I’ll be gutted if we lose on Sunday too, and again at their place. Derbies are still derbies even with everything else going on at Wednesday right now. The tide is about to start turning though and we all know it. -

He knows they’ve fumbled a massive opportunity to dominate Sheffield football while we’ve been on our arses for the last 25+ years — and his own failures are a huge part of that. Jumped ship before they got relegated, then came back and got them relegated again, then bottled promotion in the funniest possible way last season… now they’re in the relegation spots during their last year of parachute payments, they could be in a right pickle next season if they don’t go up, let alone if they get relegated with us. They’ve had a golden opportunity to overtake us over quarter of a century, and they’ve bottled it every time. This is hopefully the last season they get to lord it over us and they’re even making a boIIocks of that with how bad they are — we’ve hit rock bottom thanks to our previous owner but things are hopefully going to be very different very soon, they know it and they’re cacking themselves. -

I’m worried about Bamford tbh, he’s the kind of player who can score a worldie one game then be incapable of hitting a barn door for months. It’d be typical for him to have his one decent game against us. Starting to get the old derby day dread creeping in, I hate these games.
