The reason American ownership is good
Class of 91 replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
You'd think he'd know this, living "in Vancouver" -
Could have been McCabe. Was during the Warnock era though. If putting up a cardboard honours board was the craziest thing McCabe did for us, then I'm fine with it. United fans had a love hate relationship with McCabe. Mainly because he sold our best players at the first opportunity. Looking back, he was keeping the club in business and the money received helped keep funding the club... something your boss could learn from. Whilst they hurt at the time, selling Walker, Naughton, Maguire, Brooks and Ramsdale were correct decisions, all youth players who we got decent money for at the time. It was the Beattie sale in January that annoyed me. We finished 3rd after selling the leading scorer.

Throughout my life we've always been the "nearly men". Had some fantastic seasons and cup runs but always come up short when it really matters. You asked how I feel about the past 25 years? I've seen 3 promotions to the PL and 3 championship play off finals in addition to 5 cup semi finals. The play offs finals and cup semis drive home the point of the "nearly men", we don't do one off games. I'd confidently say I've seen us win more games than we've lost. I think I'm right in saying the only bottom half Championship finish was the one in which we were relegated. The real low point was the 6 consecutive seasons in League 1, which again included 3 play off failures. In 2019/20 when we were up in the PL, I really thought we'd cracked it and would have a sustained period up there. Obviously we were relegated the following season which has resulted in a bit of Yo-Yoing. The last promotion showed how difficult it is up there and last season with Leicester, Southampton and Ipswich doing the same as the 3 before them proves the gap is getting bigger and bigger. I don't think we can sustain it up there now without spending like mad, or finding gems abroad to sell on for profits and keep turning them out - Brighton/Brentford for example. That's nonsensical. That seems to be a bit of a Wednesday defence mechanism. Of course finishing above Wednesday is great. That's what rivalries are, you want to be better than your rivals. But merely finishing higher isn't success.

That's awful. RIP, little man

It is a strange statement for them to make, but you'd have to be stupid to lose your season ticket. The criteria for attendance is one of the following: Personal attendance at a match by a Season Ticket Holder using their Season Ticket Attendance at a match by a friend or family member of the Season Ticket Holder, using the official ‘Ticket Forwarding Scheme’ A Season Ticket Holder puts their seat up for resale via the official ‘Ticket Exchange’ scheme, which can be put up for resale up to 90 minutes before kick-off If they can't attend, they simply have to put their seat on the resale site or forward it to a mate.

That's my point exactly and you've referenced your season which proves we are far from home and dry. There's 4 teams all going for 2 spots with no sign of any dropping off presently. It will probably come down to how we fair against the others. So far we've lost to Burnley & Leeds and Won 1/Lost 1 to Sunderland. Leeds have Sunderland (h) and United (a) in their next two games. If they win both them, the title is theirs. Burnley only have United to play (at Turf Moor) Sunderland only have Leeds to play. So of the 4, United and Leeds have 2 of the top four to play. We play Burnley so late in the season that the 2nd spot won't be wrapped up until late. Probably last day

There's a very good chance that we won't get promoted this season due to there being 4 teams fighting for 2 spots. Usually 2 tend to pull away. This season it's 4 that have (like last season too actually). To have won 21 of the first 32 games and just 3points above 3rd place shows how tough the top 2 battle is this year. 21 wins and not even top Sunderland in 4th are 14 points above 5th and 17 points from 7th.

Not really. Danny Hall gets some right stick on our forum. Most think he's an absolute tool. He's also started co-commentating for Radio Sheffield and SUTV which has led many of us to poo to the opposition channel to watch their biased commentary instead. There's a running joke about many of articles that come from our forum. We talk about something. Within a day or 2, there's 200 word article about it on the Star website
