Be gentle, just thought id share my attempt
(The Wednesday Way)
I can’t quite believe what I have just seen, it truly was a remarkable thing
From top of the table with two games in hand, to sitting in third with no kind of plan
First leg of the semis, we go 4 nil down, the boos and the chants rang round the ground.
You’re not fit for the shirt is what was sang out, surly this tie was long over now.
Leg two at Hillsborough, something had changed – the noise from the fans broke off the chains.
The players were fighting for every ball and after 8 minutes we got our first goal, then we got two and it was game on, the fear and the nervousness from the players was gone.
The belief from the fans could be heard in the stands, singing their lungs out and clapping their hands.
Then we get three and the crowds going mad, we could make history if we turn this around.
We needed a hero with seconds to go and would you believe it was one of our own.
Now for the lottery of penalty kicks and all of the fans hoping for a Peterborough miss,
I can’t believe it; they’ve just hit the bar can we really do this or is that one step too far!
Up steps Jack hunt, he puts it top bins, and a cool as an ice cube he just turns and grins.
The pitch is now full of fans all around as Que sera sera belts out round the ground.
We make it to Wembley and oh what a sight everywhere you look was a sea of blue and white
44000 we did our club proud but if they gave us more tickets we would still sell them out
The atmosphere was electric the boys were sublime but we couldn’t find a winner so it went to extra time.
Extra time went so fast there were chances for both, but again we find ourselves with seconds to go.
The seconds tick down the final whistle is near, then up steps Josh Windass who said “Dad hold my beer”
A diving header right into the net and a roar like nothing I’ll ever forget.
What no one realises and fails to see is that we are massive and All Wednesday Aren’t We!!
