  1. He said re the Palace takeover that he wanted to buy a controlling shareholding (? 70%) and thought that was the agreement but was persuaded to initially buy 43% to speed up the deal and avoid delays in the PL ownership test but with the option to buy a controling interest a short time later. He accepted that it was HIS mistake to agree to buying the minority interest.
  2. But that would/might mean that Chancer would have to pay out a couple of weeks wages.
  3. Drove up to Roker Park in 68. Watched a forgettable 0 - 0 draw. Very slow drive up and back due to snow showers up from Darlington. What made that memorable? Well the 26th was my 21st birthday.
  4. It's possible that Tom McAnearney (1952 - 1965 352 appearances) and his brother Jim (1954 - 1959 38 appearances ) would have played together for us in the 1950s.
  5. Gerry Young - first Everton goal in the 66 final
  6. I'm another of the 'elderly Owls supporters' whose early memories are of watching a regular fullbacks pairing of Johnson and Megson.
  7. One that resonates in my aged mind is the 1966 F A Cup game away to Blackburn.
  8. In my time, since the eary 1960s - Don Megson
  9. If 42 is correct that makes him potentialy the answer to life, the universe and everything not just our sriker problem .
  10. Everyone except top left, names rolled straight off withou a thoight.
  11. Having watched the Owls whilst I was living in Sheffield from early 60s to early 90s my vote can only go to the great, unflappable Ron Springett.
  12. I was there but 55 years on I struggle to recall details of what I saw 55 minutes ago let alone 55 years. I would have stood towards the top of the Lep Corner as I always did throughout the 60s - now unused and covered in blue sheeting Having looked at the team that day I do have vivid memorys of watching most of the players in the 1960s even if I can't recall specific matches apart from the 1966 cup run . Oh for a Don Megson, Vic Mobley, Gerry Young, David Ford, Jack Witham, John Fantham et al these days.
  13. Im sure that is correct but are you saying that the list justifies the club having to pay the agent a huge sum to transfer the player in rather than just in relation to the the transfer and contract negotiatons? Surely the majority of the what he does be paid for by the player himself?
