I feel it’s worth repeating that forcing the game to be abandoned is counter-productive and will only get negative press. Similarly, giving Hillsborough over the Blunts on a derby day would be excruciating and would lead to years of taunting and P-taking. So, reversing some of the opinions around a total boycott may have more positive if we used the opportunity for positive protest. It’s still protest at the end of the day but hopefully with positive press and TV coverage. I would suggest something noisy and unpleasant for DC. Let’s accept that for one match he would get a windfall from gate receipts (but nothing from the concessions). But with a full and passionate Hillsborough, we should have 90+ minutes of anti-DC from all corners of the ground. Even more, we could have organised protests at various planned times aimed at maximising the visual impact of each, trying to draw the cameras into the stand or commenting on the anti-DC stance. Imagine, on 10 minutes we have thousands of black balloons cascading down the stands and onto the pitch. On 20 minutes repeated with gold balloons. 30 minutes blue paper airplanes etc. All with a series of raucous DC out chants. Given we all participate, this would give a repeated impact I. Front of the cameras and give the press something positive to report rather than pitch invasions or other matters which could have a negative impact. It would also show the solidarity and cohesion of the supporters.

I want to be optimistic and maybe the heat today is getting to me, but I think there is something happening behinds the scenes. Admittedly it’s all quiet but we may be looking at other non-related matters to draw a conclusion that (I think) we all want: 1 - Barry Bannon isn’t making any noises about leaving 2 - Danny Röhl has been very quiet too, as have his back room team. Maybe they have been told to stay remote and quiet while this sh1tsh0w unfolds 3 - Textor has parted with his shares in Palace and has £190m to use if he is leading the US consortium 4 - No noise from HMRC about defaulted payments, so maybe the £5m has been advanced All of the above suggests that something is happening and that various NDAs are keeping a lid on matters to prevent negotiations being compromised. maybe it’s the heat, but I sense a good day soon.

Places you’ve seen/met a player or seen a shirt

Bumped into Trevor Francis in Boston, USA - he was doing punditry for ITV during the US World Cup in 1994. We were both heading to the Spain v Italy quarter-final (think that was the match) and having a drink in a hotel bar prior to kick-off. A nice guy, nothing much else to say. -

The Coach and Horses, 82 Thorpe Road, NR1 1BA. A real ale pub which welcomes home and visiting supporters. Great pub, home brewed ale on draft and good food. Been there a number of times - no problems even when wearing colours. also near to the coach park for visiting supporters. Going there again this evening, easy 5 minutes walk to Carrow Road. CYA there

Apologies in advance - but the idea made me smile. To the tune of ‘Hong Kong Phooey’ Japan Hatsuse, number one super guy! Japan Hatsuse, quicker than the human eye. He's got style, a groovy smile, and a bod that just won't stop. When the going gets rough, he's super tough, with a Japan Hatsuse chop. Yaaah! https://www.google.com/search?q=hong+kong+phooey+theme+song&client=safari&sca_esv=fd368f2ad05e4b13&hl=en-gb&ei=RRWlZ6ODCeaohbIPuI-k2AI&oq=kong+long+fuey&gs_lp=EhNtb2JpbGUtZ3dzLXdpei1zZXJwIg5rb25nIGxvbmcgZnVleSoCCAIyChAAGLADGNYEGEcyChAAGLADGNYEGEcyChAAGLADGNYEGEcyChAAGLADGNYEGEcyChAAGLADGNYEGEcyChAAGLADGNYEGEcyChAAGLADGNYEGEcyChAAGLADGNYEGEdIw50BULJdWOF2cAR4AZABAJgBeaABvAGqAQMxLjG4AQHIAQD4AQGYAgagAuIBwgIFECEYoAHCAgQQIRgVwgIFECEYnwXCAggQABiABBiiBJgDAIgGAZAGCJIHAzUuMaAHkgk&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-serp#

Reviewing the last 10 Championship seasons, the average total needed to survive is 43.9 points. That figure is calculated by adding one point to the total of the team who finished in 22nd position and calculating a 10-year average. This team under the astute leadership of DR and his backroom staff have done a brilliant job and we are sooo close to this figure. They have also probably saved my life as I’m sure I would have had a heart attack if our season went down to the last game again . I would risk my health though if we were to make the playoffs final.

Portsmouth tickets
Rick - Norfolk Owl replied to maps's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Tickets & Travel
Are they still available? I need 2. I assume they are in with the Wednesday fans! -
Does anyone have any spare Wednesday tickets going for the away game v Pompey next week. I had assumed it would be relatively easy getting tickets, what with it being so far away and a night match, but never underestimate the commitment of Wednesdayites eh! 2 adult tickets needed in with the Wednesday fans (obviously). I have already registered my name with the ticket office for any returns but am trying all options. Thanks Rick

Form Table For Last 14 games
Rick - Norfolk Owl replied to Rick - Norfolk Owl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I’ll hold my hands up and hang my head in shame. I took the details from transfermarkt.co.uk which looked a good site and it reinforced my feelings about how well we have done. Not quite sure why the data is wrong, but I should have checked. Some of your comments made me laugh, but equally I am sorry to have caused so much confusion. I only wish I could have proven that we don’t need anything from the next game to be safe - transfermarkt.co.uk would have reinforced this I must try harder or maybe not try at all (kids don’t listen) -
Did a quick analysis of the form of the teams in the bottom 8 positions, which revealed how brilliant we have been of late. Surprisingly Stoke and QPR have been 2 of the worse at getting results, although they had enough in the bag from the earlier season to be safe now. If these stats are indicative and remain consistent for next Saturday then I’m a happy chap. Although I will putting my phone on standby until all the games are over - I’m too old to take the stress without consequences Has anyone got a graph showing the points gained for the bottom 8 clubs over the season, so we can track our rise from 3 pts after 13 games to now. It would be an immense graph and would go alongside the Mind The Gap and Peterborough Mission Impossible memorabilia

Let's Get West Brom Sold Out

Using all my Norfolk fingers, I’ve counted 17 a moment ago. All on the Lepp -
I know it’s on a lot of minds and, I suspect we’ve all done these permutations, but I consider it therapeutic to get this down ‘on paper’. So if Carlsberg did penultimate Saturday Results Forecast - it would look like this: Southampton v Stoke - home win QPR v Leeds - away win Blackburn v Coventry - draw Millwall v Plymouth - draw WAWAW v WBA - home win Huddersfield v Birmingham - home win So the table at 5pm Saturday would look something like this - Stoke. 50 pts QPR. 50 pts Blackburn. 50 pts WAWAW. 50 pts Plymouth. 49 pts Huddersfield. 47 pts Birmingham. 46 pts Time for a lay down - this is too stressful and we’ve still got the final weekend to go!

Weekend Fixtures
Rick - Norfolk Owl replied to DonisthorpeOwl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I want Norwich to lose to Bristol City, which will keep them trying for the playoffs in the last game, which is away v Brum. Norwich City could be our saviours, that’ll cost me a few pints in the pub that weekend -
Stadium of Light capacity in c48,000 and Sunderland’s average home attendance this season is 35,000 So plenty of opportunity for additional tickets for us. As ABBA might say - Gimme Gimme Gimme

Travel Delays on A14 To Ipswich
Rick - Norfolk Owl replied to Rick - Norfolk Owl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
You can only get a refund if the ticket can be returned to the Sheffield ticket office 24 hours before the KO. Sadly not possible from Norwich so the ticket is up for grabs for anyone planning on coming. -
Please be aware that there are roadworks on the A14 near Newmarket due to flooding on the A14 carriageway. This is causing delays of about 30 minutes but maybe worse tmw given the increased traffic coming from Sheffield. The increase is compounded by a bus replacement service on the Anglia leg of the journey from Sheffield to Ipswich, so more may travel by car. There are also minor delays due to other road works on the A14 which will affect you, so leave plenty of time. Sorry for the downbeat news, hopefully the return journey will be more cheerful after we have taken a point or more from Ipswich. On a positive note - I have a spare ticket in with the Wednesday fans. Face value £34 + £1 p&p. You can collect from the away turnstiles (or a local pub ) . Let me know if you need a ticket.
