  1. I knew Jeff Stelling was going to mention us beating Hartlepool(s) at some point.
  2. I suppose there are those who “have never missed a game” who want to keep that ‘record’ going (a bit like people who obsessively collect things). The difference now is that where once they would have been respected when speaking of their achievement to other people, now it will be looked upon as something of a failing in club loyalty.
  3. Clear to me it was men against boys in the aerial battles and the number of times they were strong-armed to one side. Clearly the young lads are lacking in physicality. They tried their best and we can’t ask for any more. Good luck to Grimsby.
  4. Only just started watching this (so Rob may ask this) - WHO is working hard in the background?
  5. Anybody think Chansiri put it on the shirt in the hope of us buying it?
  6. He never celebrated when he scored FOR us.
  7. Need a list of players willing to accept £7,000 a week
  8. Photo of shirt one day…photo of shorts another… Most undramatic reveal of a new kit ever…anybody would think there was no money to launch it. Oh…
  9. Well at least he won’t come back to haunt us…unless we qualify for the Champions League in 26/27
  10. I think he was quite happy here until he found out that there would be no investment from Chansiri in the long term. What was he supposed to do? He realised he couldn’t take the club any further. He has ambition but he knows with financial support he can do a job here. Let him get on with it.
  11. We all seemed to get behind Ron ‘Judas’ Atkinson pretty quickly, didn’t we?
  12. Chansiri turns up at the back door with a long-wheel-based transit van
  13. He’s making sure he’s got a squad for the first match
  14. Seems that Chansiri is playing the long game too
  15. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/jun/28/sheffield-wednesday-financial-crisis-football-championship-dejphon-chansiri?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
  16. Looking likely to be Steve Bracknell…if we can get him to leave Th’Oak
  17. The question should be - which manager would be desperate to work for Chansiri?
  18. I live in Cornwall and have been following Penzance AFC for ten years or so. We haven’t been very good since I followed them but I do like shouting at the ref (and him hearing me). Anyway, this season we actually won a cup, beating three Devon teams on the way. COYM - yes we play in black and white and are known as the Magpies!
  19. “Has anyone scanned and archived them all yet?” Every edition of AVFTEB and Spitting Feathers was sent to the British Library at Boston Spa
  20. A new edition of SPITTING FEATHERS was produced for EVERY home game in the seasons 94-95 and 95-96, then it reverted back to a monthly fanzine. We used to hand 10 copies over to reception for the players to read. Apparently they used to love it until David Pleat took exception to something and banned it from the dressing room. When Pete McKee did a cartoon of Jim Magilton dressed as a woman after forgetting his passport at customs (he brought his wife’s by mistake), Magilton wanted all the copies available. A few years later, in the Daily Mirror, he blamed Spitting Feathers for hounding him out of the club. I checked back through all copies around his time there and found only one tiny criticism.
  21. SELL YOUR HOUSE! would be my choice now. SPITTING FEATHERS and WEDNESDAY -HALF-DAY CLOSING (only one issue) were my choices back then
  22. I never watch them live unless they are playing us…neither do I watch the highlights on Sky. I have never watched any of their Play-Off finals so that’s worked well…won’t be watching this one either. I was cajoled into watching them play Chelsea (at my university mate’s pleading) back in the nineties and when I got home my young, well-hard and healthy cat collapsed with an enlarged heart and had to be put down. I was distraught and vowed never to watch them again (unless they are playing us).
  23. First action made by any protest group is to split. Don’t know who said this but Monty Python made the point quite well
  24. All four teams in the Play-Off places lost today…all surprisingly. Sunderland at home…Coventry at Plymouth, Bristol City at desperate Luton and (dare I say it) Middlesbrough at a team who haven’t won at home since New Year’s Day. Outside of that group there are teams who threatened a run then just fizzled out, ourselves included. You can imagine how frustrated Danny Röhl is when he sees the calibre of teams who are likely to join the Blunts and Sunderland in the top six. A better home form and it could easily have been us.
  25. Agree it would be s**t getting beat every week but the £200 million-plus you get and three years of parachute payments make all the difference. I agree the Championship is the better league for competitiveness.
