Like every other Wednesdayite, I'm absolutely thrilled with the departure of the man who has done so much damage to our club for so long. I went to the game on Saturday - my first in over a year - with my old man, walked down Penistone Road, had a pint in the Riverside, and grumbled about the referee, listened to Praise or Grumble on the way home. It was absolute bliss. The final result couldn't have been more irrelevant. Hopefully, there is now a light at the end of the tunnel, and our once great club can be taken off life support and become one of the most well-respected football clubs in England, as it has been for so much of its existence. But, we have to learn from our past mistakes, as supporters. When he-who-shall-not-be-named took over the stewardship of the club, every single one of us - myself included - were so excited to see how the club could finally be dragged into the 21st century, and maybe back to the top table of English football. The football in that first season, and even the second, was the best we've seen this century, and you can't argue with results, but right from the very earliest days, warning signs were there that this new era was a poo-or-bust enterprise, relying solely on our ability to get to the Premier League. Not only that, decisions were being made that went against everything the club stood for. Ticket prices sky-rocketed, our home kit was altered - as was the club badge. Supporters weren't asked, but many were seemingly prepared to accept any change so long as results on the pitch brought about PL football. In the last week we've seen just what Sheffield Wednesday means to so many people. We all know that we were on course for League One, and with a points deduction that's been made almost certain - but 27,000 fans turned out nonetheless to support their team - spend money in the club shop. It wasn't about what happened on the pitch. We need to remember that. Getting to the Premier League, qualifying for Europe, winning cups - they're dreams that fans of all clubs have, and with ours having experience of doing all of the above, it's tempting to think that they are the ultimate goals we need to strive for. But they're not the be-all and end-all. Of course we want to win games, be competitive, be the best we can be, but some things are more important than our standing in the football world. Our sense of identity, the community we serve, the memories we make - they're all more important than a place higher up the pyramid. Sadly, I felt that for much of the early years under 'him', our fanbase was reluctant to show its disdain because he had 'had a go'. Yes he did, but at a great cost - not just financially - but in terms of what it means to be a Wednesdayite. It took a long long time - far too long - for the majority to see what was happening. And when we did finally see it, it took even longer for us to act on it. Hats off to the guy on Catchbar Lane who held up anti-Chansiri banners around 2018. To the guy who ripped down his banner from the back of the Kop. To the lads who threw tennis balls on the pitch when the majority (myself included) didn't have the guts. To the fellas who went on the pitch against Coventry. To the 1867 Group, who put their heads above the parapet when no-one else would. I can remember meeting Jim and Rob from 1867 at the back of Hillsborough Leisure Centre to help carry boxes of them down Penistone Road - there were too many for two people and no-one else was there. Getting the leaflets knocked out of my hands on Leppings Lane while on crutches was the lowest point of my Wednesday supporting life. Finally, thank god, the majority got on board, and the actions of the fanbase this season has undoubtedly been a major factor in the change in circumstances we had last week. It should have happened sooner, but we got there. We now have to learn the lessons from the past. Whoever the new owner(s) is, we have to hold them accountable. That doesn't mean laying the boot in on day one, or holding mass protests when early mistakes are made, but recognising red flags when they show, and reacting appropriately. Whether it's Mike Ashley, John Textor, Donald Trump or Mother Theresa - we have to let them know what being a Wednesdayite means, and what they can and can't do while they're the guardian of our club. Let's never be anyone's pushover ever again. Up the Owls.

I've been slowly moving away from Wednesday over the last 10 years and getting more involved at Kiveton Park FC. Started off volunteering by painting the cafe walls, then got roped into cutting the grass - ten years on I'm groundsman/social media editor/programme editor/Over 35s player (reduced to 5th choice keeper now...) It's fantastic being a part of a community and knowing you make a real difference. As Chansiri said, we're just customers at SWFC - you're more than that in non-league. Me marking lines last year -

93 cup final replay. I was 7, my mum let me watch the game but when it went to extra-time she sent me to bed so I listened to it on the radio/alarm clock I had. Was just finishing writing down the five I wanted to take penalties when they scored in injury time. It was the first time I realised how cruel football could be. They'd already beaten us in the League Cup final so my 7yo brain thought it automatic that we'd have the FA Cup to make it fair - I sobbed my heart out that night.

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia my all-time favourite TV show - above anything. Seeing Rob McElhenney trying to help Sheffield Wednesday is mind-boggling. Hopefully he can persuade Danny DeVito to buy us...

Seriously though, a really nice lad with a top attitude, always courteous, and surrounded by a lovely family who are all big Wednesdayites. Would love it if he makes his first team debut this season.
