I understand how fans feel after losing, especially because of our poor run of form at home but where do the expectations stop? We're 12th in the championship in December with a bunch of signings that we previously praised then criticised. This is a league where you can make the playoffs with having a few more wins than losses over the entire season. Have a look at the last two league tables, it's all fine margins where the playoff teams and those challenging for promotion are separated by a couple of results. Since Röhl joined, we've been up towards the mid/top end of the table results wise having only spent a significant fee on Ugbo. We're putting in abject performances but I wonder how many of those fans of clubs around midtable/towards playoffs also moaned about their position considering the context. We've gone from a relegation battle to fans disappointed Röhl doesn't have us in the playoffs. We're lambasting our manager for not having us comfortably challenging those positions. We've been far worse under a better budget and managers we idealise (Gray) etc.

Every time in the championship pre Carlos we regularly lost at home...

He did this stuff last time they beat us/got promoted under him and I recall at that time people complaining our club didn't have the same passion.
-
He's absolutely shocking, had a purple patch and since that has scored 1 goal from 23 games. This isn't a striker who disrupts the opponents defence where you can excuse the lack of goals like Smith, Nuhiu etc. The cost of Rhodes was damaging to this club enough as it is but what about the cost of Ugbo?
-
Funny that if it wasn't for terrible refereeing, a few tactical mishaps, players making poor decisions and the fact that Chansiri is a constant hindrance to the club we'd be comfortably in the playoffs. Imagine if we could provide the resources Carvalhal had. The pigs winning is irrelevant as well, they're not a plucky underdog bravely fighting back, they're a club paying premium wages Wilder criticised us and others for.

Did we sign any centre backs in the summer? Please correct me if I'm wrong but we're now playing what I believe are RBs/LBs in those positions because we prepared a system for the season with 2 CBs which was found out after a month.

I don't understand why there's a constant denial and excuses when the pigs get results. They've come down from the Premier League and have signed solid championship players on decent wages alongside those who get them promotion beforehand. According to some posters in this thread it's all luck and not having played anyone decent. Fact is we're shopping in the bargain bin and they have the money to attract the championships best on free transfers. If they were replaced with any other championship club we wouldn't care at all. -
Our major issue on this forum is that while the pigs are in the same division and are doing well, fans won't accept any result that doesn't get us a win. It's why there's a thread in the matchday forum worrying about how good they are. We're not comparing ourselves to teams of a similar level we're comparing ourselves against a premier league yo-yo team.

I think we simply need to stop playing out from the back - we're trying to get defenders who throughout their entire career haven't been trained in that style. There's a reason why ball playing centre backs end up at the top end.
-
We start every game under fire (including the ridiculous kick offs where we pass the ball back to Pickford to hoof it back to the opposition), we only show quality when we're behind for a bit and we constantly get a lucky goal. Our style of play is to get it to the wings and cross where it usually hits the defender and we get a corner. If we score we sit back. Our subs look far better than our starters yet apart from Mainoo they don't get to start the game. Why is it that every team we've faced this tournament, despite their national pool, play far better and more consistent game than us?
-
I find it extremely weird that in a match where we have 20 shots and a clean sheet that the left back is pointed out for an apparent poor performance that resulted in a 0-0 draw.
-
Nuhiu was great today, I don't see how replacing him cost us. It's not like if he had stayed on the pitch we would've won considering the mistakes.
-
I thought we were the better team. Two poor moments cost us but to show we can actually compete against the top teams is refreshing.
-
I don't see how Jos can be at fault for tonight. We had decent chances to make it more than 2 - 0 and all it took were two moments of stupidity by certain players to ruin it.
-
Clean sheets against decent sides with our reserves whilst introducing youth to our first team. Can't complain about that.
-
Our 'stability' is becoming stagnation. I'd rather take a risk and get someone new in with actual championship experience and better tactics than have CC continue to spend vast amounts without improving our weakest areas while employing his cowardly football.
-
It's getting to the point where some people support the manager more than the club. Who cares. We're not improving so get rid. I'm sick of seeing the same inept, obvious performances and the tactics of a manager who won't change.
-
We should look at our last two end of season results which was a play-off final and a play off-semi final. People are moaning because it was expected that we'd progress to a position where we can achieve that extra step which would lead to our promotion. Finishing in any position within the playoffs is meaningless due to the nature of how it works - 6th can beat 3rd despite the points difference..Spending tonnes of money to end up in what is ultimately the same position of ending up in the play offs despite the team we lost to spending far less won't make people feel better. We can't just pointlessly bring up the results of the past to ridicule those who aren't happy with the end result. It's just ridiculous when we can bring up any past position in an attempt to claim that people can't criticise SWFC. "Oh we spent tonnes of money and finished 2 places higher without actually progressing our style of play and playing those who were meant to improve us? Better bring up the fact Alan Irvine was poor and Dave Jones didn't improve our league position."
-
What does people struggling with food, safety and life have to do with people's reaction to our result? Adding on a "Winding up-petition" article from 7 years ago in an attempt to stop anyone who is disappointed about yesterday from being disappointed due to the past is ridiculous. If people want to be disappointed let them. From your perspective we might as just refrain from criticising anything to do with SWFC because other people are worse off. We should be allowed to weigh up what happened last night in the context of football. Not some strange guilt trip about what else is happening in the world.
-
Yeah it's our fault that we kept pointlessly passing it back from an attacking position and subbed off our goalscorer. (Who scored an excellent header out of nothing) It's also our fault for the penalty takers (Who didn't make sense) because our players apparently can't get motivated for a play off semi-final unless we sing "we're on our way back" loud enough.
