We got 31 points at home last season. Top 6 got 54-48. I think we will get top 6 if we improve this. 1 Ipswich Town 54 2 Leeds Utd2 53 3 Leicester City 52 4 Norwich City 49 5 West Brom 49 6 Southampton 48 hopefully 50+ at home with 25+ coming from away games (we got 22 last year) to get top 6. I will go for 78 in total.

Championship predictions

9 of the 24 reporters have us as the "Surprise package" but only Alex Miller has us in the play offs. https://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/sport/24507223.championship-reporters-give-predictions-big-season-preview/ I fancy us to get into the top 6. If we start well, I think the momentum will build. -
Upbeat interview with German press from DR
justamatteroftime replied to Mamalute's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Sheffield/Leipzig - They sing his name, wave Germany flags in the stadium and wear masks with his likeness. Danny Röhl, coach of the English second division team Sheffield Wednesday, achieved something historic in his first head coaching position. Hansi Flick's former assistant at FC Bayern and the German national team sensationally kept the traditional club in the league with a 2-0 win in Sunderland on the last matchday of the Championship, even though the promoted team had not yet won a match after 13 games. No team had ever achieved this before. He now has hero status among the Owls fans. More little Dannys are expected to emerge from their mother's womb in South Yorkshire in the next few years. Danny Röhl in an interview about England, RB Leipzig and Boney M Röhl, who worked as a video analyst and assistant coach at RB Leipzig between 2010 and 2018, spoke to RBlive shortly before flying on his well-deserved vacation about his debut as head coach, English eating habits, his ex-employer RB Leipzig and his future plans. Mr. Röhl, describe to us how you felt after the final whistle on Saturday, when it was clear that you would stay in the league. That was huge joy, relief that we finally made it after the many ups and downs. But also exhaustion because the last few months have been very draining. It was an emotional rollercoaster. How was the reception in Sheffield? The reception wasn't as big as you might expect in Germany with 10,000 fans in front of the stadium. But it was still very nice. When I was eating on Sunday, a lot of fans came to my table and thanked me. It was unbelievable to see this joy and gratitude. "As a coach you should know when to leave" And how long did the party last with the team? For me the evening ended around midnight. As a coach you should know when to leave (laughs). And the next day there was the first meeting with the owner for the new season. This was important to me before I left Sheffield on holiday. They took over the team on matchday 12 with three points. How did you manage this incredible comeback? The fact that we came back from 13 points behind was nothing short of a miracle. At the beginning of my term in office, no one believed we would stay in the league. I ignored that and focused entirely on the process and the development of the team. What the players have achieved in the last few months is extraordinary. The team displayed an unusually strong mentality. Everyone pulled together. What is your assessment after six and a half months in the Championship? The Championship is a top top league, a brutal league. In my opinion, after the big four leagues, it is the best league in Europe - with many top teams against whom we had to push ourselves to the limit almost every week. The market value of all teams is almost 1.7 billion euros. The top teams like Leicester are worth more than 200 million. There are also many top coaches here who worked in the Premier League or Bundesliga. It is a privilege to be able to work here. Is there anything typically English that you don't know from German football? Yes, there are also beans on toast for the players on match day. That's just part of it. Some professionals climb into a hot bathtub to activate themselves before a game. You have to get involved in that as a trainer. At certain points you shouldn't be so strict with what you know from Germany. Ex-RB-Leipzig: Röhl works “easily” 70 to 80 hours As a team manager, you also conduct contract discussions, plan transfers, speak to consultants, and even make hotel bookings. How do you organize all of this? In Sheffield the structures are very lean. There is no sports director or team manager. But I have a great team of trainers who support me very, very well. But let's put it this way: There are easier first positions as a head coach. It takes 70 to 80 hours - easily. The nights are sometimes short. You get a lot of love from the fans for that. Instead of Daddy Cool, they sing to the Boney M. classic “Danny Röhl”. Our fans are sensational. They've been singing the song since our first home win against Rotherham. That is very special and extraordinary. It really always happens – before, during and after the game. I really appreciate this great bond between the fans, the team and me. Read more: Next ex-RB coach gives FC Bayern a basket How much RB is in the football you play? I worked with Ralf Rangnick for nine years. I would be in denial if I said RB isn't in me. High pressing, switching. But my time at FC Bayern also developed me further. When it comes to possession of the ball in the further phases of the game. The challenge is to adapt the idea to what the team can achieve and where their strengths lie. We found a good balance there. The players were very open from day one. Röhl believes RB Leipzig can win the championship What do you think RB Leipzig can achieve in the coming years – the championship? Why not? The season will come when they can do it. They have always been in the top four in recent years. In Leipzig all the conditions are there. I keep my fingers crossed for Marco Rose that he works long and successfully at RB. If you could ever sign one RB player from each team, who would you get? Lois Openda, Dani Olmo and Willi Orban. Read more: Messi sets up five goals in Miami win over Forsberg Do you dream of returning to Leipzig at some point? The Bundesliga is a top league. It is a privilege to work there and I naturally feel closely connected to German football and Leipzig. But I feel very comfortable in Sheffield at the moment. What's next for you after the summer? We'll get together in the next few weeks. It's about thinking in the same direction - when it comes to goals and the next development steps as a club. Everything is possible at the moment. It can go one way or the other.- 39 replies

Doesn't sound that good to me! The former Hertha Berlin hitman represents a poor return on Hamburg's investment after only netting 13 league goals in 76 outings for the Volksparkstadion side. And Klaus-Michael Kuhne, who owns 7.5 percent of Hamburg and the naming rights to their stadium according to ESPN, has described Leeds-linked forward - who initially scored 13 goals in 20 games during a loan spell at the club - as "flop of the century" in comments which won't excite the Elland Road faithful. "HSV is a phenomenon because the losers always get stuck here," the 80-year-old businessman told Der Spiegel. "Lasogga is a good example, I do not know if I was involved in it. "Must he be given a five-year contract and a yearly salary of over €3.5m after half a good season? This was Harakiri, the flop of the century." http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2017/08/18/german-shareholder-calls-leeds-united-target-a-loser/ -
