Wilderbeast's Press Conference
alanharper replied to Loughborough Owl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Do all keyboards in Loughborough have the caps lock stuck? -
We may be on our arse but at least we're not Blades

Was funny when they sang "It should have been 10", as if they'd somehow avenged Wembley 93. They hadn't even had 10 goal attempts at that point. -
Doubt they'll ever play together. Weaver is out long term, doubt Bernard will be fit until well into the new year.

Don’t blame the players or HP; blame Chansiri
alanharper replied to shandypants's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Well he had to really, having bought him based on his decent run when he was on loan. But when it became obvious that he was a busted flush Röhl never started him after mid February and sometimes dropped him from the squad altogether, he only played just over an hour in total in the final 13 league games. -

He only played a few minutes of football (and the two flights were over a week apart). Demarai Gray started both games, was probably in the same plane home, yet started for Birmingham yesterday with a day less to rest, bagged two assists. Fusire was in Qatar midweek and played more football than Cadz as well, Valery has been away and played two 90 minute games, started today. Which is weird in itself, how many other clubs play youngsters and have them break after a handful of appearances? If they'd been forced to play a load of matches I could understand it, but they haven't. -

Well we had two on the bench who'd have been better options. Even the boy Grainger would surely contribute more. Ugbo's been given chance after chance to prove himself, yet he's still....that. -
Barry bannan the steel derby magician

I thought he did really well when standing in the left back position passing back to our keeper, found him every time. -

Another expensive flop who's now a club legend for scoring against the worst Wednesday side since 1975. -

The effort and heart has at least been there in most games, today they just didn't look arsed. Even a supposed club legend and lifelong Owl looked like he wasn't that bothered.

Compare it to the side we had last season though, that finished top half but Chansiri decimated. Probably only 3 players in today's team that were first choice starters last season, M Lowe, Bannan and Valery (who's being played out of position in midfield because we've got nobody else). Perhaps Iorfa at a push. .

🦉 v ⚔️ The Steel City Derby: Official Matchday Thread
alanharper replied to ReginaldD's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
He's been away on international duty and had a long flight back, but he only played about 10 minutes in 2 games so should be reasonably fresh. Think Valery played 2 x 90 minutes for Tunisia, not sure about Fusire. -
It's just a random ill-thought out excuse. Because they're Liverpool and everything simply has to mean more. At the risk of sounding even more callous, if he'd played for Spurs or Brighton he'd barely get a mention now. Yes of course the tragic loss will have affected the players who were his mate and they’ll always miss him, but it makes no sense to only use it as a reason after they've lost a game. The half a billion quid of new players didn't know him (probably not on a personal level anyway), and it certainly didn't affect them when they won the first 5 games of the season, or when they've won 3 out of 4 games in the Champions League despite their PL slump. But Liverpool always have to remind everybody that they're the only ones who suffer from tragedies.

Just realised that if we lose they'll have won as many league games at Hillsborough in 2025 as Wednesday, which would be an excruciatingly embarrassing stat. We'd still have 4 home games left, but I wouldn't put any money on us winning anybody them. -

Let's score a goal at least, sick of drawing a blank against these, five in a row at the moment. A late Ugbo winner would be the best one but I'll take anything! -
How is that not deemed a foul, just because Foden had the shot before getting crunched? Anywhere else on the pitch it's 100% a foul for the late challenge and I've seen reds given. I'm not even sure the ball was out of play when he was hit.

Commentator on whichever overseas stream I'm watching is digging out the "missing their mate Jota" excuse. Despite it not seeming to affect them in Champions League games, or in the PL games that they won.
-
As amusing as their recent form has been, I can't remember them ever getting a proper spanking at home let alone against a side near the bottom, so this is extra sweet.

Liverpool, again

Let's Get The Scrubbers Of S2 Sold Out!
alanharper replied to BIG D's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
How's that going to work then? I'm sure NS ST holders or people who selected and paid for seats in there weeks ago really wouldn't mind being moved to far inferior seats to accommodate people who couldn't be arsed to buy tickets in there now or in other stands when they were available. -

Atalanta. But given that he only played one league game for them last season and they loaned him out for this, I doubt they're desperate for him back and would rather he stay out on loan with somebody else paying a chunk of his wage. And after barely playing for two seasons and apparently being garbage when he has, I can't see anybody else being desperate to take him on.
