@Marro let me know which charity mate -

Very sad, spoke to him a few times in the sauna at Hillsborough leisure centre, was always sound and really approachable RIP

I think the comparison of Wilder and Moore is better looking at Moore's second season rather the third. Both inherited a failing team that got relegated, both then failed to hit the immediate target of promotion. Most probably would've understood if Moore was sacked after Sunderland, but would've felt it was a litle harsh. I'd say Wilder is in this position now and I don't think he'll get sacked.

The now lesser celebrated on this day
nickswfc replied to g-owls's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I've fonder memories of 2005 than 2023 tbh Atmosphere was better First time ever in the play offs Game was much, much better The promotion itself felt bigger cause we thought we'd stopped the rot -
Mammadov COMPLETES TAKEOVER
nickswfc replied to EcclesallOwl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I can relate I was on a caravan holiday around the time Walking round Mablethorpe humming "Mamma-dov-dov-dov" to the tune of 'feeling hot hot hot' Thinking I couldn't wait to get this going on the concourse at the first away day -
Mammadov COMPLETES TAKEOVER

Can we take a moment to acknowledge that 2014 was 11 years ago Proper olden days, when we had players like Liam Palmer and Sam Hutchinson -
If we're being grown up about Wilder. United weren't fancied this season, they were 2/1 to make the top 6. So he's done an okay job but ultimately missed his target now two seasons running. You'd also imagine the new owners aren't thrilled by his attitude and antics
-
I don't think he will get sacked but I think Wilder is in a very similar position to Darren Moore was after coincidentally also losing to Sunderland in the play offs and going into his third season. Season 1 - took on a failing side but failed to keep them up, but was rightly not blamed for the relegation. Season 2 - Had a target of promotion and despite a strong season failed to achieve his target via the play off lottery. Season 3 - Promotion or get the sack basically, no more benefit of the doubt or excuses.

If we merged everyone would just go and support Sheffield FC, including Blades So we'd probably end up having two teams anyway

Fail of the Century. The Story of the Humble Club Sandwich.
nickswfc replied to Pablo Bonvin's topic in General Football Chat
Maybe because they finished third and are pretty strong favourites for the match? Their previous history means sod all -
I was thinking earlier how bizarre it was that they got less than there average attendance for this game, this probably explains it then

I'm not buying the idea that 'Röhl was always a wrong un'. It's like any situation if someone does something less than exemplary. "Ohh I always knew they was a bad un'" No you flipping didn't, you're just looking for reasons to back up what you think now to make it look like you knew something all along.

If Chansiri just let Röhl go for free or any amount lower than the contract says, he would rightfully get absolute pelters. The £5m figure or whatever it is would probably get compared to the income generated from the high ticket prices we're paying and he'd be accused of chucking money away. I've not really seen anyone "cheering him on" but i think it's right to say we should absolutely get the compensation outlined in the contract.

We can't know for certain but I think that gap is too big for them even if they spend. As we've seen with the gap between the promoted teams this season. Just look at the bottom half of the prem from 17th upwards, it'd take mega mega bucks to compete with that. They'd have to do what Forest did and with that comes massive risk that could backfire too.
-
Them going up just isn't what it used to be is it. I rememeber feeling physically sick in 2019. If they do it, it'll be the third time in six years. Don't get me wrong I want them to fail, this isn't a defence mechanism of trying to pretend I don't care. But if they go up, so what, they'll come straight back down and the novelty has worn off for a lot of their fans.

THE DANNY Röhl LEAVING THREAD
nickswfc replied to TodwickOwl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Poor from Röhl this imo. When a manager says something like "I'm focussed on the job here" without quashing rumours, you kinda know what they're saying even though they're not directly saying it. Most fans would've understood if he'd done this. -
The Official Poo Show 25/26 Season
nickswfc replied to gypsyowl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I agree it'd be very worrying if it were August now but it's May and we've three months to sign players and renew contracts -
Maybe they do exist I've never met anyone Basically what I said
-
I've never met anyone who would consider themselves a Chansiri fan either Although I've seen loads of people being called a Chansiri fan on here
-
If it was a cheeky "Up the Bl*des" wink "have a nice day mate" - then I don't see the issue. What makes it inappropriate is firstly the recording him with his kids, and then the prolonging it as though he's doing summat amazingly clever and funny.

In other news : Well done Darren Moore
nickswfc replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
You could even expand this to our more successful managers Megson still gets slated for his brand of football Carlos for the Huddersfield games Dave Jones for how things ended The only manager who I think is better regarded than Moore in recent memory is probably Sturrock
