If Röhl gets the Glasgow Rangers job
Lincs Owl replied to danblakemore's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Judging by the daft comments he made on another thread, Maidstone Owl has probably never been in our South stand, never mind Glasgee. -
Not been on the training facilities at Middlewood Road so I wouldn't know, but Coventry should change their pitch to concrete if Saturdays performance is anything to go on. Didn't hurt them.

Scunthorpe United's 'any old iron' by Tommy Steele takes some beating.

No. Ron and Peter swapped clubs in the close season of 1967. We did not play QPR in 1967-8 season. We played them at Hillsborough in the 1st Division 14th Dec 1968. I was there. We won 4-0 in front of 22004. Ron and Peter both played. You might be thinking of Jan 1967 when we played them at Hillsborough in the fac. We won 3-0 and Ron was playing for us. Ritchie hat trick. 40,038 Inc me again.

To everyone that went on the pitch
Lincs Owl replied to Portland owl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Running on the pitch with a Chansiri Out flag won't hit the headlines. Just needs one person with a 'I support Palestine Action' banner and you're guaranteed to get dozens of police rushing in. Maybe even a police helicopter landing on the pitch. Loads of free publicity. -
Sheffield Wednesday vs Birmingham omdt
Lincs Owl replied to Maddogbob's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Strange post. What exactly are Birmingham trying to make out they are, that they're not? -
They've all played in a postwar fa cup final or league cup final except you know who.
-
It's rumoured he might get paid at Walsall.
-
Unfortunately he does have a right to continue running the club because he bought it and it's all his. That's the problem. We don't have a board of directors running the club while he's in Thailand.

When we're in league one next season and getting stuffed by the likes of Burton Albion and Port Vale, we'll all be reminiscing about how great the likes of Adam Reach and Beswetherick were. And as for Windass being only half as good as he thinks he is.... Ahhhh Those were the days.

I used to watch Wednesday train there in the early 60s. They'd play on the football pitch in the middle. Yes it's sad news. I used to watch Sheffield Tigers back in the day....but their bad news should be our good news, as looking at Google aerial view there's space enough for a big football stadium. If Wednesday had any business sense and a far sighted owner with money, they'd put in an offer to buy that land and keep it as an asset even if they don't have immediate plans to leave Hillsborough. Land values double every 10-20 years and in the meantime they could rent it back for greyhounds speedway stock cars or whatever. The pitch in the middle could be used for Sheffield Eagles RL, Sheffield FC or even swfc ladies. But we don't have any men of vision at Hillsborough unfortunately.

Harry Catterick resignation from SWFC
Lincs Owl replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
We were very poor under Brown. Dont be fooled by the cup final. Buckingham was a far better manager imo. 3 consecutive seasons finishing 6th. He was sacked because we lost at Newport in the fac in 1964. -
He not only scored two good goals at Norwich but he also hit the post with another cracking shot. Had we kept him we might have had a chance of staying up this season.

Walking from St Pancras to Waterloo Stn
Lincs Owl replied to Spion Kop's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Ha. I'll get back in my box. Hope you had a nice trip home. I watched the game on Ifollow and the fans and team both did us proud. A bit of hope at last. -

Nice shirt. You look like a very happy sort of bloke. Can you post a photo of yourself on the train home please. -
Yeah but when you get your credit card bill you'll wish you'd spent the €11 for I follow.

The biggest and newest stand , the Findus stand, was opened in 1980 according to wiki. I know I took my eldest lad there in 1985 to watch his first ever match. Grimsby v Cardiff. Didn't fancy taking him to Hillsborough at the time as we were getting big crowds under Wilko and I didn't want to frighten him off football. Mariners put seats in all the stands during their championship years but no new stands. By a strange quirk my lad later became a senior town planner in North East Lincs and was involved in their attempt to build a new stadium at Great Coates near the A180. Unfortunately Town hurtled down the leagues into near oblivion and it's never happened. But if they ever win the League cup... So Grimsby us QPR.

He came here in 93 and left in 2001. We were in the Premier 93 to 2000.
-
If you live in Maidstone, you probably won't appreciate it's Grimsby's nearest away game this season. Yes, all 70 miles. Unless they get somebody local in the fac, they won't be going to Hull Lincoln Scunthorpe York Donny Rotherham Barnsley Sheff United Leeds Bradford City. Plus it's all dual carriageway or motorway from Grimsby to Sheffield

But you're not a structural engineer are you? Taking the cantilever roof off would collapse the entire structure. The weight of the seating area holds the roof up. That's what the cantilever principle is all about. And you can't just take the Kop roof supports away of course. Would have to be something like in the Lee Strafford World Cup plan. A completely new roof.

Are Grimsby the only league team that..

It burnt down. Was built for the 1851 exhibition. -

Not so. As previously pointed out only Notts play in the city. The Trent is the borderline. -
You've been watching far too many shiiiite American films. I prefer the poison tipped umbrella approach as used with great success in Eastern Europe.
