Expected bidders at this stage include former Newcastle owner Mike Ashley, American billionaire John McEvoy, who holds stakes in Denver-based Major League Baseball franchise Colorado Rockies and National Hockey League side Nashville Predators, and an Indonesian group. The i Paper has been told that another Middle Eastern consortium who were working with a London-based advisory firm have withdrawn from the process, primarily due to the anticipated competitiveness of the auction, as well as concern about Wednesday’s ongoing running costs. While the sale price will include settling Wednesday’s debts, with the £62.5m owed to Dejphon Chansiri reduced to £15.6m due to the EFL’s football creditors rule which entitle football creditors to 25p in the pound immediately or 35p over three years, other costs are considerable. With Henrik Pedersen’s side on minus-four points at the bottom of the Championship, relegation to League One has been priced in meaning further losses are inevitable. What’s the asking price? Tens of millions of pounds of investment will be required to renovate Hillsborough, which was hit with the temporary close of the North Stand by Sheffield City Council at the start of the season due to safety concerns. As a result, one source who has been involved in talks over a bid forecast that the real cost of buying Wednesday and keeping the club a going concern for the next three years would reach £100m. Unlike the purchase of Charlton Athletic by American group Global Football Partners two years ago, Wednesday’s ground will be included in the takeover due to Chansiri’s apparent willingness to walk away from a further £54m of debt. Having transferred the ownership of Hillsborough to a separate company, Sheffield 3, five years ago, Chansiri handed it over to the administrators with the rest of the club last month. While around £8m in secured debt is owed to New Avenue Projects, who hold a charge over the stadium, Chansiri’s stadium debt is not secured and has been effectively written off. How the Owls are surviving With an anonymous benefactor having provided a £1m interest-free loan to the club this week, which must be repaid on the completion of the sale or by 31 January, Wednesday’s short-term financial position is secure. Having been paid late in five months out of seven up to September, the club’s staff and players have been told they will receive their wages on time in November and December. After receiving offers tomorrow, Begbies Traynor will spend the next fortnight negotiating with all the bidders, with the aim of conferring preferred bidder status and taking receipt of a deposit by 5 December, when exclusive negotiations will begin. While the administrators have cautioned fans against expecting a quick sale, there is genuine hope that new owners could be in place early in the New Year.

If he doesn’t sell willingly he’ll have the club taken off him by the IFR, probably before the season is over. If the Regulator can’t get rid of someone like Chansiri, their entire existence becomes pointless. Forcing him out will be their top priority from day one.

Genuinely, I don’t think he’s well. He needs to get out of the club for his own sake as much as anything else.

So what would the repercussions be if one of the 14 fans groups revealed what was said at the meeting? They wouldn’t be allowed to attend the next Engagement Panel? Oh no…

Or another interpretation could be that he’s trying to convince the fans that it would be better for everyone if he leaves in the summer as the players can’t play his style, but another manager might get more out of them. So we should see Danny joining another club as him doing us a favour.

Just speculation that he’s interested in a takeover, debate about whether he’d be better than our current owner, AI mock-ups of him in a Wednesday top, people asking where all the Mike Ashley chat had come from, that kind of thing.

I don’t know if he’s been referred to in the meeting but there seems to be a lot of Mike Ashley chat again on X tonight. I wonder if he’s the London-based interested party that The Star mentioned.

So he admits that there has been interest in purchasing the club but nobody has followed up that interest. He also admits that he refuses to sign an NDA. It’s hardly surprising that he’s not had any firm offers then. Until he starts taking this interest seriously, nothing will progress. In the meantime, the club will continue to stagnate and it’s value will continue to decline.

I thought the same thing in the first half. He looks like exactly the sort of player the pigs are missing. They also look vulnerable to the good old-fashioned up and under. Their defenders were getting in a muddle with it every time.

A load of people (a good mix of Wednesday and United fans) reported the spitting video to Sheffield United and South Yorkshire Police via social media. Sheffield United eventually (and very possibly begrudgingly) released the statement already posted on this thread saying they were aware of ‘incidents’. No idea whether any action has been taken. It’s also worth noting that there was a steward standing literally a few feet away from the spitter when this was happening but it doesn’t sound like any action was taken at the time.

I don’t even blame Ugbo. I blame whoever put him in that position. His confidence is rock bottom. If we were 3-0 up then fine, but for him to take that penalty at such a crucial time in the game was a horrible decision when we had Windass and Bannan as options. 2-0 would have killed the game. And you introduced the slightly snarky comment about how many points attacking momentum was worth. Factors such as attacking momentum and xG are used by most modern managers, including ours, as an indication of a team's overall performance (and crucially to monitor improvements in performances over a period of time). The notion that a team who wins is always the better side on the day is so simplistic it's laughable. For a start it doesn't take into account refereeing decisions or sheer dumb luck. Nobody has suggested you need anyone's permission to post. I was just questioning why you'd bothered given that, by you own admission, you consider all opinions on the subject to be irrelevent. That's true, but is irrelevant to this thread which is discussing the one-off game that took place today. Who deserves what in our opinion is literally what this thread is about. If you think it's worthless to discuss that, that's fine, you don't need to post. But several people obviously thought it was worthy of discussion.
