My experience working at Sheffield Wednesday
LawtyOwl replied to RumbleOwl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Christ this was a depressing read. When you think things can’t get worse, it continues to. Feel bad for the people who have to work under that environment. It’s a shame… imagine what the club could be, and what it could achieve, if it had the right person/team/leadership at the helm. Who knows what the future holds. -
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-64943981 Remember the Newcastle debacle. LL lower was reduced in capacity to 1300. "The Lower West Stand now has a further reduced capacity of 1,300 (down from 1,500 as a result of the recent review) for a stand with a holding capacity of 2,366," the authority said.

I love a pint of Wednesday before the match. I’ve done the brewery tour too at Thornbridge and think their beers are great (especially with seeing Wednesday all over the reception). And people keep saying the service is crap, but I never seem to have to queue for long at all. Much better than it used to be.

I'm getting the same error. Pretty frustrating. Good to know it's not something I'm doing wrong though!

Garry Monk and Adam Reach both agree he's a striker now

I just double checked the date to see if it’s April 1st... -
Rhodes came on for Fletcher for reasons only known to Carlos. Maybe he thought the minor changes made (e.g. Butterfield) would give Rhodes something, but it's clear from that prior to him coming on that we appeared to have the same poor service, crosses and lack of quality in the final 3rd. So. What's Rhodes going to do, he's not the kind of player that can fix those particular issues. If he'd brought Joao on earlier (or started him) and he'd not done anything at least it will have been something different to the same predictable approach.

I fear what Chansiri might do next
LawtyOwl replied to RUMBELOWS91's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Good list that. Personally I think Chansiri as a Business man in football is out of his depth. It's clear for all to see. I love his ambition but unless he's a business man who learns quickly then we're stuffed. I'm hopeful though. I said in another post, Milan would have got shut of Carlos by now. -
I agree with this. Regarding Carlos, I reckon Milan would have made a change by now (last season in fact). I personally don't think the dressing room has been happy for sometime... not as it used to be. Everything from the shirts to with recruitment debacle (feel sorry for Winall... he could have played his part) and we have the poor performances. I like Carlos, he's had some great times with us.... but all organisations need fresh ideas to progress and re-energise and in this case fresh leadership is certainly overdue.

Birmingham - V - Wednesday OMDT

Really need Loovens back for Sunday. Some leadership is desperately needed. -

I now work in York and, of course, they are all mostly Leeds fans in York. If we lose next Sunday it will be doubly sh ite

Seeing him kick it over the bar from about 6 yards out was funny though.

...If we bag 4 on January 13th at the Sty (and win of course) Could it happen?
-
I think he should start but we all know he won't. It'll be the same.
-
Yep, however my worry is that Joao is one of those players that has great ability and shows the odd glimmer of it every once in a while but then can't be bothered the rest of the time. Isn't that what happened at the beginning of last season? I remember people bemoaning him then. I'd absolutely love for him to prove me wrong though and deserves a chance.
-
And they'd have never got past him... (he's magic)
-
For me they played well IMO... Joao made a surprising impact. But... Westwood - Somethings not right this season, keeps making mistakes. What's happened?! Lees - Good defender but not really a captain, and for me always lacks any ability to pass forward. Needs support of another good CB Van Aken - Too early for him and clearly out of his depth yesterday. Hunt - Still no confidence this season and terrible balls in. (Hooper absolutely screaming at him in the first half for poor crosses) Reach - I honestly don't see what people see in him. I just see constant sloppy mistakes. Lots of running and never any end result. Wallace - As usual he's predictable and every full back knows what he's going to do. Yesterday he was same as usual for me. Bannan - Wasn't on it yesterday as we've seen him in the past. Can play much better. Lee - Again didn't deliver. Small moments here and there but again like Bannan seen better. Jones - Never seems to go forward. I'd rather have Hutch (although I know people think Hutch is a liability) Fletcher - Seen him win more balls and play better before but personally I can't lay all the blame there though as I think the service was poor. Rhodes (on for Fletcher) - Why?... Everyone knows it will make zero impact. Was Fletcher tired? What was the point of that? Be interested to know if you agree in any/some/none of these points.

Never been so embarrassed
LawtyOwl replied to OwlofOliveGrove's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
When we equalised I was on my feet right next to the west stand, flagging em off, calling em wa nkers. For the first time them lot went quiet.... ...2 minutes later I was sat back down head in hand. Unbelievable. -
It's bad isn't it when the player who you know is going to be the one to bring fire and commitment to the cause is also likely to leave you with only 10 men. I like Hutch though and it would have been worth having him play just for the aggression in a game like that.

Carlos Carvalhal vote - Now with an actual poll!
LawtyOwl replied to jfr142's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Out. We weren't up for it. That's the managers job. He's a nice bloke but it's time for a change now. Sat in the last block in the south stand closest to the west stand listening to them lot all game, and then seeing a lack of fight on the pitch, was utterly depressing. Worst loss at home ever imo. He goes. -
Think when some players are fit (Buxton, Mattock et al) and Kieran and Semi can rekindle the magic, and we have more options for midfield we'll be getting better results. Thus I'm staying positive. (I.e. Not in a relegation battle).
