Kieran Maguire rules out liquidation
norris replied to patolookalike's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
We are discussing what makes business sense. However, I can't shake one particular thought from my mind. Over the last 10 years we have had several players of value that have obviously reached the end of their time at the club. They could have been sold to bring in money for the club - for Chansiri, but his mentality meant he let the contracts run down and they left for free. He is happier to let a value reach zero rather than sell something for what it is currently worth. He is doing the same with players and manager right now. No club is willing to pay £5 million in compensation but if Röhl isn't being paid he can leave for free with his contract torn up. Chansiri has shown time and time again that if his valuation is higher than someone else's, then rather than negotiate, he will sit sucking his thumb and see the value reach zero. The value of the ground could reach zero if repair costs are higher than the price someone might be willing to pay. The obvious right answer is to sell the club to one of the several interested parties. But that hasn't happened. Talks haven't happened if you believe Chansiri's statement. There is only one answer to why it hasn't happened and that rests in the caverns of Chansiri's brain. I'm worried. -
It’s always darkest before the dawn
norris replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
The difference is, you can know exactly what time dawn will happen each day. We have no idea when the Wednesday dawn will be. It could get significantly darker for us yet. A better quote would be "At some unknown point in the future, it will start to get lighter again." -
Can Man City not afford the full amount upfront? This is from the BBC article on the Club World Cup.... "City earned the most in the group stage because they were the only side to win all three matches, and will depart the US having banked approximately £37.8m." This is about the same as our whole club is worth.

Wednesday - V - Sunderland OMDT
norris replied to Lord Snooty's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
We have dismantled a team, and replaced them with a worse team. -
I think we have a stronger squad of players, but do we have a better team of 11 players. Genuine question - if we played the team we ended last season with, and had Moore managing them, how many points would we have now? I think we would have managed a couple of draws. Conclusion - in the short term we are worse off, but in the long term we are moving forwards. Is this the right manager to get the best out of the players we now have? I haven't seen anything yet that makes me think the answer is yes.

Beat this funny funny SWFC joke..
norris replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I was talking to George Byers the other day and he told me the reason he has been out of the team is because he has developed an addiction to Viagra. He said it's been the hardest 6 weeks of his life. -
It's ridiculous that when the season ends in 10 minutes time, there are 4 teams that won't know whether they are relegated or not.

WEDNESDAY - V- HUDDERSFIELD - OMDT
norris replied to Lord Snooty's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Fulham will rest players. Middlesborough will be safe. Two easy wins. -
A win puts us 13 points above the bottom 3 (assuming 12 point deduction for Wigan). That would be a massive psychological boost.

Birmingham - V- Wednesday OMDT

My phone has stopped sending me goal alerts. Even technology knows what is happening. -
Although the aim in football is to try to prevent the opposition from scoring, sometimes that will not be possible. Also, if all the other teams added up the points they would have if they hadn't conceded goals then we still would not be second. Hope that helps.

First the Earth cooled. And then the dinosaurs came, but they got too big and fat, so they all died and they turned into oil.

Norwich City 3 : 1 Sheffield Wednesday OMDT
norris replied to Lord Snooty's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
So, after we have won, we climb 3 places to 11th in the table. -
Didn't want to start a new thread with this question because then the question wouldn't be needed......... Why is there no matchday thread for the Donny Rovers game that kicks off in 3 hours? Are we all waiting for somebody else to do it?

I'm quite big up front. Just saying!

I'm no gambler, but surely 5/1 odds for Reading when only 4 teams are in the race has to be worth a bet.

The Owls vs Derby County. Official Matchday Thread.
norris replied to pauli's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Who do we have on the bench to replace Lee if he breaks down. Plenty of attacking options but surprised not to see Jones in there. -
Can someone explain the "sports bra" that all the players seem to wear in training?

I can't watch!!! -
How much money do we stand to make from this? Gate receipts etc. How much if we end up losing over the 2 legs? How much if we get to the final and lose? How much if we actually go up?

Did I just hear £3 million on Radio Sheffield? When was the last time we spent that much on a transfer fee?
