Surprised so many see this as good news simply based on hope it will force him out quicker. If it does brilliant - however the alternative is the nightmare scenario that the club and ground are owned by different people. As horrific as things are at the mo they are at least owned by the same person (albeit in different companies) making a takeover theoretically fairly straightforward. You only have to look at other clubs where the ground fell into third party hands so see how chaotic and messy it could become.

Think Labour have committed to introducing it - possibly with an even stronger remit- but whether it will be a priority I don’t know

You really think he’d have signed a new deal two months into the season when we were rock bottom with 3 points and looking nailed on for relegation?
-
For what it worth I think he could be a shrewd signing If you're going to play 4-2-3-1 it is vital the 1 upfront is a mobile, strong powerful type who can keep hold of he ball and play in others and he seems to fit the bill for that at least However because he is not massively prolific it would put extra emphasis on those playing off him to chip in with a decent amount of goals - Windass, Musaba, Gassama or whoever As to be being no different from others: Smith despite his height is average at holding the ball and playing in others, but does have a knack of bagging a goal Gregory is decent at link up play but isn't physical or mobile enough now to play as one up front. And his best spell in the Champ (at Millwall) was actually playing off another striker Fletcher is I think more of a run in behind type and is looking well off the pace anyway I'd prefer better quality but do we have the budget for that?

Why do all these made up rumours involve things heard on golf courses?

Clubs have to under FA/EFL rules - though it was probably relaxed last couple of years after Covid EFL 112.1 Clubs shall hold at least two meetings/fans forums per Season to which its supporters (or representatives) are to be invited in order to discuss significant issues relating to the Club. The framework for these meetings shall be documented in the Club’s customer charter, but are subject to the following minimum criteria: 112.1.1 Clubs must be represented by the Club’s majority owner, board director(s) or other senior executive(s); 112.1.2 where meetings are not open to all supporters wishing to attend, the supporter representatives must be elected, selected or invited in line with basic democratic principles; and 112.1.3 individuals cannot be excluded by the Club without good reason (the Club acting reasonably)

There are probably loads more great John Motson commentaries of Owls games but I always remember this one - cracking match too ‘You can’t take liberties with a Premier League team like this’ ‘If there has been a better FA Cup tie this season I don’t think I was there…’ RIP Motty

What kit will we wear for Shrewsbury away?
simpark replied to Andrew_Owl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Only time Newcastle have played at home in their away kit was when we rocked up in black and white stripes in 1993 https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/youll-playing-skins-day-away-13753892 -
Great vision and pass Pity he didn't get an assist for it - because the defender got a head on it I presume?

FA disciplinary charges round up shows ref did mess up MISTAKEN IDENTITY Alfie Mawson, Wycombe Wanderers FC Sheffield Wednesday FC v Wycombe Wanderers FC English Football League 1 24/09/2022 C1 Unsporting Behaviour – Foul Tackle RESULT Claim Upheld Caution Transferred to Jack Grimmer Jack Grimmer now on 3 accumulated cautions for the season We won so it's not an issue but another example of terrible reffing

Seems to be on the same career trajectory as Paul Lambert - good record in lower leagues, job with bigger club taking them from L1 to premier league, slightly harshly sacked, then succession of under achievements Whether it will continue or he can stop the rot remains to be seen. His stock is probably still high enough to get another decent job

Against Chelsea in 1992 - was one of my first ever games at Hillsborough. The defending for Chelsea's second was even worsen than on Saturday!

Referees to clamp down on time wasting
simpark replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Problem with clampdown on time wasting is the ref dealing with it wastes more time - so it's a win win for the teams doing it. And players will happily take a yellow card for it as a result -
Some posters on here were saying the other day he’ll never make it and they’d have no problem him leaving on a free
