#SWFC Season Tickets - FAO all season ticket holders
owlsmad replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I’ve got mine and for some reason they’ve sent me two identical cards? Bring on Saturday! WAWAW -
Here’s a new one, let’s try and be positive about the football. With all the other crap flying around at Hillsborough at the minute, it’s all we’ve got. We’ve only played one game, ONE GAME! Jos slowly turned last season around using a mix of young’uns, fringe players and fit first XI players. His hands are tied again with the fact he can’t bring players in, but he’ll make do and build with what he has. He’s not moaning about it, he’s just getting on with the job at hand. We’ll have some crap results and we’ll have some good results, that’s the nature of football. We still have very influential players not on the pitch in Hooper and Lee (Abdi ) and players still on the road to recovery in Fletch and Winnall. Give him and the players he chooses to put on the pitch, your full support. Give them the confidence that we believe in them. All the other stuff is irrelevant for now, it’s the football that matters. Support your team!!!

What exactly has Jos done wrong? He came into club with a horrendous injury list and made the most of what he had at his disposal. We ended the season fairly strongly and he certainly got the best out of some players. He’s now hampered by a transfer embargo and I’m pretty sure he’ll make the best of what he has at his disposal. It’s one result in a long season, let’s not get carried away by all the other stuff going off at the club and concentrate on the football. Get behind the manager and players and let’s show them we believe in them. From positivity grows confidence, from confidence grows good form. Let’s give the lads a great atmosphere next Saturday and then hopefully, they’ll respond with confidence and a good result.

How to alleviate the Almen Abdi situation
owlsmad replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I thought we’d landed a great signing in Abdi and I’m gutted for the lad. I wanted to see him on the pitch where he belongs, this just has’nt happened. Unfortunately it has to go down as a terrible acquisition and total waste of fees/wages, to have only played 12 games in two full seasons. If it was just one season then maybe things would be different, but it isn’t. Time is not on his side and we need to cut our losses. He’s taking up valuable finances that we could use to strengthen in other areas. I don’t hate the guy, I just love my club and he’s been a bit of a blight since joining. -

£4mill well spent.... 12 appearances in 2 years, 12!?! His days at Wednesday are surly numbered and if not, they should be. I also feel we are entitled to know what the situation is, we fork out our hard earned cash (tickets, shirts, etc) to help fund transfers. I’m not saying we need the ins and outs, but “he’s injured again” is getting a bit repetitive. Is it long term, short term, career ending?? Don’t get me wrong, I feel for the lad... I’m sure he’d rather be on the pitch, but enough is enough. Time to go Abdi! -
Seriously? Can we please just drop the George Hirst crap, he’s gone.... Time to move on
-
100% agree and always have done... No one player is bigger than the club.
-
Unfortunately this is football these day, clubs are too often held to ransom by players and agents. The kid showed some promise (like a certain other young’un with contract issues), but he obviously thinks he can get more elsewhere, so good luck to him. We have plenty of young talent coming from our U23 squad, so who cares about Clare? He doesn’t want to play for Wednesday and I could’nt care less. See ya Clare
-
Who cares about Clare? He was given the option to sign new contract, he didn’t sign, goodbye. END OF THREAD and move on!
-
True, but we don’t know what went off between young Hirsty and the club representatives. I doubt they’d freeze him out just for 5hits and giggles! C’est la vie!
-
At the end of the day, both players have been offered new contracts. The club obviously believe they have offered the right price, so it’s up to Hirsty and Clare and their representatives. If they don’t want to stay, then what else can the club do? Personally I’d love them both to stay, realistically I can’t see either staying. They no doubt think they’ve EARNED the right to demand high wages, having played a handful of first team games between them!?!

Jones and Butterfield (again) FFS
owlsmad replied to I'm an Essex Owl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Totally agree with the OP, they are a terrible pairing... They were both OKish tonight but as mentioned, lack any creativity or attacking presence. I would also say the same for Boyd and Palmer, totally gash as wingbacks with no decent crosses or attacking presence. Rhodes was nonexisten, Dave tries his best and don’t even get me started on Loovens! Only positives were Joáo, Reach and Lees. With regard to Jos I’m not overly confident he’s the right man for the job., even if he had a full squad to pick from. Roll on Bolton, whoop de f00kin woo! -
I like the fact Jos has showed faith in some of the youth squad, albeit without much choice. I also like to think that he has steadied the ship somewhat and isn’t afraid to change things up on the pitch. I must admit though, I’m very confused about the squad selection last night and more so the comments he made following the game. It was difficult to tell if it was broken English, avoiding the question or just that he was as annoyed as all the fans. That said, it is difficult to judge after the time he has had and the squad available to him. I just hope he gets to see some of our so called first team players, so he can make an informed assessment of how he sees their role next season or if he feels they need to be moved on to pastures new. Then with a full pre season and his own (full) squad to play with, it’s open season on judgement. For now he will get my backing. I can’t deny that I was underwhelmed when it was announced he was the new manager, but I never let that wain my support for any employee at the club (be it on or off the pitch). They get my full backing and I will continue to back them until they give me reason not to. Time to finish this dismal season, avoid relegation and build for next season. Onwards and upwards WAWAW
-
Some of our fans are so fickle... I think Rhodes can still turn this around... The new manager has only been here a few weeks and already shows faith in him. Once the confidence comes back, he’ll bang em in for fun. Just give the lad a chance and support him and the team. What’s the point in being negative and cursing every move he makes? How does that help the situation? Yes he’s missed sitters and yes he’s low in confidence but, name me a striker that hasn’t gone through a baron period. Get behind the players, get behind your team and get behind your manager!! We’re caller SUPPORTERS for a reason.

After recent meltdowns, let's all try this
-
We made him look like Messi, ffs
-
I just want a manager who shows a bit of passion when you're losing 2-0 to your bitter rivals in the first fithteen minutes, rather than standing bemused with his hands in his pockets. I'm not saying he should always publicly name and shame the players, but to totally deflect any blame from them and say we were startled by going a goal down.... its football ffs, what do they expect. To often in interviews Carlos waffles some tosh and skirts around telling us what's really going off. The occasional team or player bashing, is the kick up the arse they so rightly deserve...
-
Because the exit poll on here is a true account of how all Wednesday fans feel
-
With regard to my thoughts on Carlos, I have been a fence sitter since that playoff defeat last season. I was neither for nor against him remaining at our club, I simply didn't know how I felt. He made some odd tactical decisions, we seemed to sign quality players and not play them and in general the football was becoming a bit stale. On saying that, you can't dispute the fact his first two seasons in control have been with relative success. Occording to the RS pundits, although we fans believed we had again started slow we were in fact in a better position than last season. So on this basis, surly you should back the manager.... NO! Having listened to the RS interview, I am dumbfounded. United were fired up for that game yesterday, they might as well of fielded 11 life long blades fans and they'd still have won. Not one of our players look fired up, or even seemed to understand what it meant to us wednesdayites. Carlos said in the interview, the fact it was a derby was not really discussed before the game! SERIOUSLY? I'd be shoving it down their throats as soon as they get in for training and until they leave. To say he shoulders the responsibility for the loss and the players should get no pressure, WTF? The players should fear the manager and the b******ing they're about to get after such a pathetic performance. These are grown men that get paid plenty and I'm sure they're big enough to deal with the backlash from the manager, pundits and fans. If not, they are in the wrong job. A defeat is a defeat and we move on, but the manner of that defeat yesterday and the response from Carlos.... it just beggars belief! I want a manager that screams at the players when they're under performing, not just standing their with his hands in his pockets. If a player is having a stinker, get him subbed. Make an example of him, put a bit of fear into the other players. Granted it was a hard choice as to who to replace yesterday, they were all dog sh!te. Carlos's softly softly approach just doesn't do it for me. Give me passion, give me foaming at the mouth anger and ranting, give me publicly bashing the players that don't perform and make them scared! I will always support whoever is at the helm and the players on the field. I will never boo the team, that's the responsibility of the manager. I love my club and will follow them through thick and thin, it's in my blood. But for the love of god, please Mr Chansiri.... make a change. Time to go Carlos.

This.... Absolutly terrible defending and a sure sign his head had dropped as we were 2-0 down. Not good enough!
